What do handyman services in London include?

London Handymen can tackle a wide range of indoor and outdoor home DIY tasks. Here are some tasks you might ask a local handyman near you to pop round and help with:

General handyman services

Got a list as long as your arm of odd jobs that need a handyman to complete? Hire general labour handymen to get several things done at once. They can help with pulling up carpet, hanging doors, fixing broken appliances, garden work, and more.

Indoor installations and repairs

A local handyman can help install newly bought homewares or fix broken possessions (so you can hopefully save some money). For example, they can help with DIY blind installation and repairs, fitting and repairing the kitchen sink, fitting pet doors, hanging shower screens, and even wallpapering. They’ll get it done using their own specialist tools and will let you know if you need to provide or pay for any additional materials.

Outdoor installations and repairs

Your outdoor area and belongings have to deal with a lot. So help them withstand whatever nature (or your family) throws at them for longer by getting them professionally installed or repaired. Find a handyman who can help with garden shed installation, BBQ repair, fitting outdoor blinds, window repairs, fixing your mower, putting up your clothesline, and even repairing your kids’ trampoline.

Bricklaying and building work

You can hire a handyman near you with bricklaying and building experience to help build garden walls, repair loose brickwork, install MDF, or even construct a chicken coop. When getting quotes from tradesmen, mention if you’ve got the building materials already, or if you’d like them to supply the materials as part of the job.

Wall hanging

From pictures and TVs to bike racks and mirrors - if you need help with wall mounting, get a DIY handyman to fit your furnishings securely and make sure they’re level. Most handymen will bring their own tools, but you may need to supply extra materials such as screws, picture wire, or mounts for heavier electrical items like TVs and driers.

Furniture repair

When booking a handyman for furniture repair, you’ll need to be specific about the furniture that needs fixing. For example, handymen with carpentry experience may better if it’s your wooden coffee table, wardrobe, or sofa bed that need repairing. Meanwhile, a handyman with electrical experience may be right for any ceiling fan or digital fitness equipment fixes. That’ll ensure you get the best handyman near you for the job, plus the right tools to get it done.

Hi, I’m looking for someone to re-secure an integrated dishwasher that has come loose from the cabinet. The screw holes in the side panel seem to have crumbled so the screws won’t hold anymore. 65” TV Mount + Install 5 Venetian Blinds (lintel) + IKEA Curtain Track

£200

Shepherd's Bush, Greater London

Need a handyman for a few installation tasks: • Mount a 65" TV to the wall (bracket provided). The wall sounds hollow but is an exterior wall. • Install 5 faux-wood Venetian blinds (blinds provided). I attempted this but drilling above the window hits metal (likely lintel) so requires proper drill/tools. • Fill and sand three small drill holes I made previously (I will paint afterwards). • Install an IKEA ceiling curtain track above a sliding door (tracks provided). Remove broken toilet seat

£20

Walham Green, Greater London

7th Mar 2026

I’m trying to replace a toilet seat. The nut and bolt mechanism locking it to the bowl is old and doesn’t seem to purchase when I am trying to unscrew it. It’s also awkwardly positioned on the underside of the frame meaning you need to use a box spanner to access it. I think we may need to break to nut but I’m no expert. It seems to be the same on both sides so both sides need doing.

Sarhad turned up with an hour’s notice and did an excellent job. Highly recommend.

Garden fence repair and furniture maintenance

£150

Shepherd's Bush, Greater London

1st Mar 2026

Following up on my previous message, I’d like to provide more details about the jobs: 1. Garden Wall & Fence (Security Focus) The garden wall faces the street, so I’d like to increase the height slightly for better security. I’m not particular about the materials used—whatever works best. Some parts of the topper have come off. Where there are existing plants/wood, I’m happy for you to tie them together or reinforce them to act as a barrier. I specifically need the area above the left-hand door and the sections where the topper is completely missing to be strengthened in some way. I want to minimise the cost if its possible. 2. Wardrobe/Chest of Drawers Regarding the warped unit, if you feel it’s not worth repairing, I have another wardrobe in a different room I can use instead. In that case, could you help me move the other wardrobe to the room and break down the old one into smaller pieces so I can dispose of it easily? Could you let me know if this is something you can help with? I'm happy to follow your professional advice on the best approach. Best regards,

Home Maintenance: Minor Paint Touch-ups & Kitchen Drawer Repair

£80

Feltham, Greater London

19th Feb 2026

Hi there, I’m looking for a handyman or painter for a quick maintenance session. The house was fully professionally painted in December 2025, so the walls are in excellent condition—I just need some minor "snagging" done from moving furniture and daily use. 1. Paint Touch-ups (Across the House): Touching up minor scuff marks and small chips on walls and door frames in various rooms. This is a simple job as the paint is only 2 months old. Materials: I have the original leftover paint tins ready to use, so no color matching is required. As it's for multiple areas, a top-up tin may be required You will just need to provide your own brushes, small rollers, and drop sheets. 2. Kitchen Drawer Repair: One kitchen drawer is sagging/sticking and likely needs the side runners/slides replaced. Please inspect and advise if I need to buy specific parts, or if you can supply standard runners (I will reimburse the cost with a receipt). Requirements: Please bring your own tools (screwdrivers, drills, painting supplies). Experience with basic cabinetry hardware is essential. Must be careful with flooring/furniture (use drop sheets)
