What does a plumbing service include?

Your plumber will diagnose any issues, repair them to the highest standard, and give you advice. But the exact process and inclusions will depend on the kind of plumbing service you need, like:

Plumbing installations

If you’re installing a new kitchen, bathroom, or dishwasher, you’ll need a plumber to get the pipes connected. Your plumber can help with fridge water line installations, mixer tap installations, new shower heads, and more. They’ll take a look at your space and existing set up, then use the right tools, pipes, and equipment to get everything connected and running smoothly, with no leaks.

Fixing leaks

One of the most common plumbing repair issues is leaking showers and taps. Not only does the drip-drip-drip get super irritating, but it can lead to flooding, water wastage, and excessive water bills. Your plumber will check the situation, then turn off your water so they can take a closer look. They’ll repair or patch your leaks and install any new parts needed.

Hot water system repairs and installations

There’s not much worse than running out of hot water for showers, washing machines, and dishwashing. Find a plumber near you to help get it fixed faster when you need emergency hot water system repair or upgrades. Or book a standard gas plumbing service to make sure everything’s safe and working as it should. Your plumbing contractor will assess your hot water needs, recommend any fixes, and then either repair or replace your parts to get it all in working order.

Pipe repairs

Your pipes are crucial for bringing freshwater in and draining waste water out, but they can get damaged by storms, interference, tree roots, or just ageing. If you think you have a pipe problem, it’s important to find a local plumber near you and call them in for PVC pipe repairs as soon as possible to minimise damage. If the pipes are exposed, your plumber may disconnect any water services to them, then remove and replace the damaged section. They’ll use high-quality adhesives and seals to ensure the joins don’t leak, move, or burst.

Blocked drains and toilets

If, in the words of Kenny, “there's a smell in here that will outlast religion”, it’s time to call your local plumber for help. Blocked drains and toilets aren’t just smelly. If you leave them, they could overflow and cause flooding and health issues. If you’ve unsuccessfully tried to clear the blockage yourself, call in your plumber. They’ll use more advanced (and powerful) tools to clear even the most stubborn drain blockages and toilet blockages without damaging your pipes and fittings.

Fabulous! Thanks so much

Install a toilet + maybe repair a bathtub tap

£90

St Pancras, Greater London

7th Oct 2020

I am looking for a plumber to do 1 or 2 tasks in NW1 1UG: 1. Install a close coupled toilet 2. Potentially repair a leaking bathtub tap (if we can find and close the water supply valve). I think both jobs are pretty straightforward, but to be efficient I have listed all details that I could think of (below). I am afraid parking is available only after 6.30pm (or before 8.30am) Mon-Fri and/or any time on weekends. I hope to complete the two tasks below in the following few days, if possible before Tue, 13 Oct. I kindly ask you to state your availability (when you could come) for any offers. I have more tasks in the same bathroom to follow (basin replacement, maybe bathtub replacement), but I am not ready for them yet and they can wait. 1. INSTALLING A TOILET I would like to change my old low level toilet it with a modern close coupled unit. I have removed the old toilet pan and poured self levelling compound into the hole created by the old pan in the floor (can provide pictures of the floor - before and after levelling ). The old cistern is still on the wall and will need to be deinstalled before the new close coupled toilet can be installed. The close coupled toilet that I bought is actually used and in excellent condition, with the cistern and the valves already installed. Everything should be doublechecked nevertheless. Please note: - I do not have any brackets or screws for installing the close coupled toilet - The old cistern has side entry water input (top left corner), while the new close coupled cistern has bottom entry (bottom right corner). - there is a large building drainage pipe at the back of the toilet (can provide pictures), which might mean that the close coupled cistern might not reach (lean against) the wall, i.e. perhaps there will be a small gap. It seems to me this will not be the case, but I am not sure. Therefore, some batten (or similar) might be needed to fill the potential gap. I have white paint (for both walls and wood) ready. - the building drainage pipe is considerably larger than the toilet exhaust. Previously this was resolved (improvised?) by a putting a lot of PTFE tape around the toilet exhaust before a connector was fitted. After a few years that started leaking and then putty was put around the WC connector, which eventually also started leaking. This time I am hoping for a more permanent solution. - there is another exhaust pipe (from basin) feeding into the WC connector (can provide pictures). The exhaust pipe coming out from wall is also a bit smaller than the connector pipe and will also need to be re-fitted. 2. REPAIRING BATHTUB TAP(S) This will hopefully be straightforward, provided we can find and close the water supply valve. There is (at least one) valve behind a panel next to the bathtub, but I failed to open it as I could not unscrew 6 out of 10 screws (can provide pictures) with my medium size screwdriver. I think this should be possible with a large Philipps screwdriver. Only hot water tap is leaking and needs to be repaired, but if we can manage to close the valve(s) then I would also prefer to check/service the cold water tap as well. If we cannot close the hot water valve, then I presume this cannot be done (at least not quickly) so I would cancel this task. If so, I would expect a discount / reduction of the fee, so please include somewhere in your offer a breakdown of your quote (per tasks above). IF ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE SHOOT. Thank you very much in advance!

Replace seals, hose and fix door of leaking shower

£250

Finsbury, Greater London, WC1X

22nd Sep 2019

My shower is leaking as it is badly sealed - it has actually damaged the bathroom floor quite badly. The old sealant needs to be removed and shower sealed properly to stop the leak. The top of the door-frame has also come partially unstuck from the ceiling - I'm assuming this needs to be re-glued (probably with better glue) Shower hose is on its last legs and needs replacing. Shower head and tap are also looking a bit tired and could do with replacing. I really need this done today/this evening, as I am now without a shower, and I also have lodgers . Thanks
