What do handyman services include?

Not everyone has the skills, tools, or time to tackle home maintenance and repairs, which is why handyman services are readily available to book on Airtasker. Save yourself the trouble of pulling a DIY by connecting with a reliable handyman near you.

Here are some tasks you can request from your Tasker:

General handyman services

Most handymen are all-rounders, ready to take on a bit of everything around the house. When you hire one, you can sort out multiple issues in one fell swoop, from yanking up carpets and hanging doors to swapping out light bulbs.

Indoor installations and repairs

Struggling to install recently purchased homewares? Or perhaps you can’t replace your damaged appliances just yet? Handymen could easily smooth out these minor bumps. They are equipped to assist with tasks like putting up blinds and curtain rods, installing kitchen sinks and pet doors, and even wallpapering.  If you need a home security system installed, you can also book a Tasker to set this up for you.

Outdoor installations and repairs

Your outdoor area goes through the wringer, enduring everything from heavy rains to the mess left behind after playtime. To keep your backyard in tip-top shape, have outdoor items expertly installed or repaired. Seek out a handyman near you who can assist in tasks like putting up your garden shed or clothesline, mending windows, fixing your mower, and fitting outdoor blinds.

Bricklaying and building work

Handyman services can also cover basic home construction, such as bricklaying and building work. If you need a seasoned builder to help you put up garden walls, repair loose brickwork, install MDF, or construct a chicken coop, count on Taskers to handle them for you. For maintenance, you can also book separate services for gardening work or brick cleaning.

Wall hanging

If you need to free up space in the living room or garage, get a handyman to mount your TV or bicycle on the wall. Instead of pulling a DIY, working with a tradesperson for your wall hanging needs ensures your furnishings are level and fitted securely. Taskers can hang picture frames, mirrors, or heavier electrical items like dryers. Having trouble with your electrical wiring? Have it fixed beforehand by booking another service on Airtasker.

Furniture repair

Before having your broken furniture repaired, specify the type of furniture to make sure you get a Tasker whose skills align with your demands. For instance, get a Tasker with carpentry experience to repair your wooden coffee table, wardrobe, or sofa bed. If the issue is electrical work, such as fixing ceiling fans or digital fitness equipment, ensure your handyman is experienced in this area.

Home maintenance

When you have access to home maintenance services near you, it’s easier preserve your place’s top-notch condition. You can count on your local handyman to help with cleaning the gutters, pressure-washing driveways and paths, resealing windows and doors, and sorting out minor roof repairs. Avoid letting small issues turn into expensive problems with regular home maintenance.

Repair and reattach external front door pull handle

£125

De Beauvoir Town, Greater London, N1

7th Apr 2026

We need someone to repair and reattach the external stainless steel pull handle on our front entrance door. The handle was installed last year to help pull the door into position from outside so the manual bolt can lock properly. It has now come off after being pulled. The existing handle appears to still be in good condition and must be kept and reused. The issue seems to be with the fixings and possibly the outer stainless steel plate, which now has two handle holes that look somewhat distorted. We want a repair-first, budget-conscious approach. Ideally, the existing outer plate can be removed and reused, with the handle securely reattached using a stronger fixing method. If the plate is too damaged to reuse, we would want the most cost-effective option for replacing the plate only, whilst still keeping the existing handle. Please note that the outer stainless plate appears to be fixed with countersunk blind rivets, also known as pop rivets, rather than standard screws. The centre hole is approximately 3 mm wide and the full rivet head is approximately 8 mm wide, so please bring suitable tools to drill these out and remove the plate, and also the appropriate tools to refit or replace it if needed. What we need: • Remove outer plate • Keep and reinstall existing handle • Reuse existing plate if suitable • If not, replace plate only • Use secure fixings suitable for regular daily use on a front entrance door • Check the door can still be pulled into position properly for locking Outer plate size is approximately 34.9 cm x 7.5 cm. Please only offer for this task if you are comfortable drilling out rivets and refitting or replacing the plate properly.

Window blind need to be done

Window specialist - need help fix soundproofing

£100

Pentonville, Greater London

7th Apr 2026

We have the same type of window throughout the flat. However, in the bedroom, we can hear noise from outside coming in. We're on the first floor by the way and by the road. The rest of the flat is fine, and we do not have this issue elsewhere. As shown in the photo, there appears to be a gap between the window and it's adjoining section, so I think that may be the part that needs fixing. We need help with fixing this or some other parts that actually need fixing if that's not the cause.
