What do handyman services include?

Not everyone has the skills, tools, or time to tackle home maintenance and repairs, which is why handyman services are readily available to book on Airtasker. Save yourself the trouble of pulling a DIY by connecting with a reliable handyman near you.

Here are some tasks you can request from your Tasker:

General handyman services

Most handymen are all-rounders, ready to take on a bit of everything around the house. When you hire one, you can sort out multiple issues in one fell swoop, from yanking up carpets and hanging doors to swapping out light bulbs.

Indoor installations and repairs

Struggling to install recently purchased homewares? Or perhaps you can’t replace your damaged appliances just yet? Handymen could easily smooth out these minor bumps. They are equipped to assist with tasks like putting up blinds and curtain rods, installing kitchen sinks and pet doors, and even wallpapering.  If you need a home security system installed, you can also book a Tasker to set this up for you.

Outdoor installations and repairs

Your outdoor area goes through the wringer, enduring everything from heavy rains to the mess left behind after playtime. To keep your backyard in tip-top shape, have outdoor items expertly installed or repaired. Seek out a handyman near you who can assist in tasks like putting up your garden shed or clothesline, mending windows, fixing your mower, and fitting outdoor blinds.

Bricklaying and building work

Handyman services can also cover basic home construction, such as bricklaying and building work. If you need a seasoned builder to help you put up garden walls, repair loose brickwork, install MDF, or construct a chicken coop, count on Taskers to handle them for you. For maintenance, you can also book separate services for gardening work or brick cleaning.

Wall hanging

If you need to free up space in the living room or garage, get a handyman to mount your TV or bicycle on the wall. Instead of pulling a DIY, working with a tradesperson for your wall hanging needs ensures your furnishings are level and fitted securely. Taskers can hang picture frames, mirrors, or heavier electrical items like dryers. Having trouble with your electrical wiring? Have it fixed beforehand by booking another service on Airtasker.

Furniture repair

Before having your broken furniture repaired, specify the type of furniture to make sure you get a Tasker whose skills align with your demands. For instance, get a Tasker with carpentry experience to repair your wooden coffee table, wardrobe, or sofa bed. If the issue is electrical work, such as fixing ceiling fans or digital fitness equipment, ensure your handyman is experienced in this area.

Home maintenance

When you have access to home maintenance services near you, it’s easier preserve your place’s top-notch condition. You can count on your local handyman to help with cleaning the gutters, pressure-washing driveways and paths, resealing windows and doors, and sorting out minor roof repairs. Avoid letting small issues turn into expensive problems with regular home maintenance.

Unblock my kitchen sink

£40

Whitechapel, Greater London, E1

4th Jul 2026

I’m looking for a plumber to attend and investigate a drainage issue in my kitchen. The problem started while the water from the washing machine start to back up into the kitchen sink, and the sink is now draining very slowly / has become blocked. The washing machine and kitchen sink share a common waste pipe, so there may be a blockage further down the drainage line. I would like someone to come out, identify the cause of the blockage, and carry out any necessary unblocking works.

Super helpful, Michael exactly knew what to look for without us having to tell him. He is very professional and punctual. Highly recommended by me.

Multi-task plaster repair (Ceiling holes, gouges, coving restoration)

£300

Brownswood Park, Greater London, N4

19th Jun 2026

Hi, I need a skilled handyman, plasterer, or property maintenance specialist to complete a bundle of interior plaster and cosmetic repairs following a recent cabling/sprinkler installation. All work is preparation for me to paint myself; surfaces must be left perfectly smooth and flush. The job consists of 5 specific tasks across three rooms: 1. LOUNGE WALL: Repair one 1cm hole beside a framed print, plus three vertical plaster gouges (one 25cm and a pair of 20cm gouges) running up to the coving line. 2. KITCHEN CEILING/WALL: Repair an 8cm diameter round hole cut into the plasterboard ceiling. Also repair a vertical slice (50cm long x 2cm wide) cut out of the wall that runs through the decorative coving. 3. HALLWAY DECORATIVE COVING: Re-fit and blend a section of decorative corbel-style coving that was removed. I have saved the original plaster piece (fully intact but with rough, chipped edges). Needs to be cleanly bonded back into the gap and seamlessly blended/rebuilt with fine filler so the joints are invisible. 4. HALLWAY CEILING HOLES: Repair one single 8cm round hole, and one pair of overlapping 8cm holes forming a vertical "figure-eight" shape. (A cable is visible inside, so care must be taken with backing support). 5. HALLWAY WALL HOOK: Clear out a damaged hole where a wire-suspended lighting fixture hook was pulled out. Install a heavy-duty wall plug/anchor (suitable for the wall type) and securely reset the hook so it safely supports the light wire again. Requirements: - Please bring all your own tools and core materials (e.g. plasterboard scraps, timber backing battens, scrim tape, coving adhesive, heavy-duty wall anchors, and fine multi-finish fillers/compounds where needed). - I can provide dust sheets and ladder. - Deliver a perfectly flush, sanded finish ready for painting.

First class plastering repairs. Complex shapes and profiles perfectly matched. Attention to detail with clean tidy work.

Maintenance Sink

£60

Shoreditch, Greater London, EC2A

11th May 2026

Quite a simple job, as I was cleaning the kitchen sink, the plughole dosen't seem to attach to the drain anymore, I think it's just because the filaments got used in time. And as we're doing this I was thinking to might as well do a cleaning of the sink unit. There is a hardware store 2 mins from my building in case we need replacements.

Literally the best experience, good price, good communication, was very fast and efficient. Very good. Would gladly book him again!

Clean off mould from top section of utility cupboard – no concerns about further peeling of paint, just cleaning the mould. 4. Fill hole near skirting with filler/caulk – whatever you recommend 5. I’m looking for a reliable, experienced handyman (or bathroom specialist) to help with several small but important jobs in my flat. Ideally someone who can handle bathroom repairs, silicone work, minor carpentry and cabinet fixing. Job to be done: - Replace mouldy silicone sealant around the shower (possible condensation under the tray → may need a **small air vent**). - Outside the window: remove mould and replace the white wooden plinth/skirting in the corner. - Replace the plastic seal on the shower door to stop water leaking. - Remove limescale around the shower tray (DIY attempt didn’t fully work). - Fix cabinet door: replace faulty hinge causing clicking/resistance, then repair the small thermofoil tear or replacement - Scrape back and repaint peeling ceiling paint just above the shower Please bring your own tools. Happy to discuss materials needed (I can purchase if preferred). Looking for someone experienced, tidy, and able to advise on best long-term solutions (especially for mould/condensation).
