What do kitchen painting services include?

Kitchen painting services typically cover the entire process–from surface preparation and texture removal to skim coating and custom finishing. Whether you had a brand new kitchen installed or just finished sprucing up your old kitchen, kitchen painters near you can deliver the look you want in no time. Here are some of the things they can do for you:

Choosing the paint colour

Kitchens are always associated with pleasant memories shared over food and cooking, so their paint colour should set the mood! You can opt for bright shades that can give your kitchen a pop of colour or even muted pastel colours for a more relaxed vibe. Another factor to consider is the colour of your kitchen cabinets and tiles. Some like to play around with colours and textures to make the room edgier, but some also prefer to match everything for a more cohesive look.

Feel free to ask your painter if you're unsure of what paint shade to use. You can even consult a professional interior designer so they can give you valuable tips when it comes to choosing the perfect colour palette for your kitchen.

Choosing the paint sheen

Choosing the right paint sheen or finish is as important as picking the right shade. Usually, kitchens have moderate traffic but are prone to mess and moisture because of all the food prep. The perfect paint sheen should be able to handle this, hold up to its use, and be readily washable without it scraping off easily.

The most common types of paint sheen used in the kitchen are eggshell, satin, and semi-gloss. All these can give you a clean and elegant finish without requiring too much clean-up time as well.

Preparing the kitchen

Before the painting session starts, it's essential to clean your kitchen thoroughly and get rid of dust and cobwebs. Masking and covering is another crucial step to prevent paint from dripping everywhere, but only if you already have a finished floor and if you can no longer move your appliances. It's also best to check if anything needs repairing, like your kitchen cupboards and cabinets, to make the paint application process as smooth as possible.

Draping appliances with a plastic sheet or masking film can also be beneficial, but if you can, it's better to remove all obstructions. For good measure, make sure to inform your painter about the status of your kitchen beforehand so they'll know how to navigate around the area properly.

Painting and finishing the kitchen

Your painter applies a primer to ensure better paint adhesion on all surfaces. They can then use a roller for larger areas and a paintbrush for sections that are too small for the roller to reach. After doing the initial coat, it's good to wait for at least a couple of hours before applying another two or three coats. Additional coats deepen the paint colour, making it look more even and pigmented. You can always tell your painter if you want more coats to make the paint reach its full potential!

Naturally, painting jobs tend to leave a big mess behind. You can always get someone to clean your kitchen once all the paint has dried. This way, you can focus on other tasks on your to-do list, especially if you're also building or renovating other rooms on your property.

From Apartment Painting, Bathroom Painting, and Bedroom Painting; you can get all types of Kitchen Painting done usually between £157-£172, with the median price of Kitchen Painting in West London being £165.

Skimming kitchen walls

£100

Putney Heath, Greater London

3rd Apr 2019

We removed the wall chip wallpaper in our kitchen and the walls aren't in great condition to re wallpaper and really need skimming rather than a full re plaster. The kitchen is 3.5m x 2.4 and roughly 2.4m high. 2 walls have base cabinets so wouldn't be the full wall. 2 half height walls and 2 full walls. Also if we could have quotes for 2 walls in the bathroom 1 wall is 2.3m x 2.4m high and the other wall is a window wall 1.6m wide by 1.6m high bit with a big window in the middle. Dates can be flexible

Paint over slight water damage kitchen

£75

West Acton, Greater London

27th Oct 2018

My washing machine leaked into flat below causing some discoloration to the white paintwork and some wooden painted white pipe casing. It needs to be repainted.

Paint kitchen and bathroom

£50

Shepherd's Bush, Greater London

20th Aug 2018

I need the walls and cupboard surfaces in our kitchen and bathroom painted with white paint. Please ignore listed budget for the job and let me know what you are willing to do the job for - also see attached photos (so yellow areas in kitchen and green areas in bathroom need painting white). I am assuming kitchen cupboards will probably need a different type of paint. This job is just for the visible surfaces (so not inside the cupboards) and only where there is existing coloured paint (e.g. bathroom ceiling is already painted white so does not need doing). I will need a quote upfront, total area size that needs painting is as follows: Kitchen walls - 15m squared, Kitchen cupboards - 9m squared, bathroom walls - 8m squared, obviously various separate pieces to all those. You will need to supply paint, brushes etc. but we're basically looking for something low cost rather than high quality. Job probably has to be done asap, ideally Monday 20th and/or Tues or otherwise Wed, ideally daytime (small possibility this day may shift), as I run an AirBnb and have blocked out those days for this purpose. Paint type to be agreed beforehand and not included in quote here (i.e. price of paint is separate to the job price, and we will pay for the paint at cost price and retain any left overs). Please ignore listed budget for the job and let me know what you are willing to do the job for. Thanks

Dave did a great job, fast and with no fuss, and was easy to leave to get on with the job of painting kitchen and bathroom while I worked from home separately. Good communication and offered the best prices too for this task. Recommended!
