Moved into new house. Waste pipe of washing machine doesn’t really have anywhere to drain? Hoping someone with experience can help us as we are unsure

Whilst digging a post hole, I’ve noticed a damaged and blocked pipe system. The PVC pipe is cracked, and it was filled with a root system. The old clay pipe going under footpath is also filled with roots. Not sure where it goes as there is no outlet in the street gutter, but there is something which indicates there may have been at some point (see photos).
