It is a small door under a staircase that is broken. Apparently, a dog chewed on it and removed part of the wood and paint. Additionally, a part of the plaster on the wall next to the door has also come off and needs to be filled, repaired, and painted. The door also scrapes the floor when opened, so the hinges or whatever the issue may be need to be adjusted properly to prevent it from scraping the floor.
