I have already purchased the complete roller shutter. I originally intended to install it myself but no longer have the time. Please allow up to five hours for the job. Installation includes assembling and mounting the canister and rails, fitting drainage hoses, completing the 12V electrical connection, aligning the shutter and testing it thoroughly. My BYD Shark is my baby, so I’m looking for someone careful and experienced—not someone attempting this type of installation for the first time. You must bring your own tools, protect the vehicle’s paint and trim, and please complete a neat, secure installation. We have just purchased a small unit that has three metal roller shutters, but none of them are working. Two of the shutters are up and won't come down, the third is down but won't come up (see images). They are remote controlled not hard wired. The roller shutter from one of the windows is broken, it stopped halfway while shutting and the motor just kept going and the rest of the shutter just dropped to close. Now it remains totally closed and the motor just makes a sound when activated and stops after a certain time.

SITUATION: Large aluminium motorised roller shutter (approx 3m wide) over a window. The plastic axle end insert/bearing inside the barrel has disintegrated (30+ year old unit), causing the barrel to drop out of its end bracket. The shutter is currently stuck in the closed position and propped safely. WHAT'S NEEDED: • Remove old/broken plastic axle end insert from barrel • Supply and fit replacement octagonal axle insert with bearing (part identified — ~$35 from Shutter Masters AU, can order prior to job or tasker to supply) • Re-seat barrel correctly into end brackets • Test that shutter can be operated manually (motor assessment optional/secondary) • Re-rivet or screw housing lid back on SITE DETAILS: • Housing lid already removed (rivets drilled out) • Ladder access required — barrel is at eave height • Two people may be needed to lift and seat the barrel ( i can help with manual labour) IDEAL TASKER: Roller shutter technician, handyman with shutter experience, or capable general tradesperson. Must be comfortable working at height. Please quote including labour. Part cost (~$35 + postage) can be discussed — happy to pre-order if needed.
