18m2 plasterboard cavity wall on metal struts has next to no rock wool inside and you can hear the neighbours. I’m thinking either cutting into it and pushing rock wool in or blowing it in.

I need to sound proof the window of my bedroom against a compressor outside of that room that steals my sleep at night. I was thinking of a sound plug made from some sort of sound insulating foam or wool and an MDF board - potentially as multiple panels to make handling easier. The window is in a protected building and has some decorations around the edges - no drilling or other permanent amendments are imperative. The handles stick a bit out into the cavity so there needs to be a bit of room between the window frame and the board - a spacer made from a noise seal would be ideal. I have attached pictures - once we have settled on which dimensions are needed i can take the measurements. Having some sort of stand on the ground that ensures that the plug doesn't fall out may be ok - the space in front of the window is occupied by a desk that has clearance underneath.
