What does a soundproofing service include?
Soundproofing services on Airtasker include all the steps involved from testing and recommending a solution through to installing your soundproofing gear. Here are some of the most commonly requested areas for soundproofing:
Wall soundproofing
Soundproofing your walls is one of the most popular ways to soundproof a room. Your technician may advise you to insulate your walls and soundproof them with foam. They’ll cut into your wall to install the foam and repair your plasterboard afterwards. Another option is to apply extra layers of drywall to your current walls, thickening the wall and making it harder for sound to travel through. You could also use vinyl as an extra layer of protection. You may also want to apply several coats of soundproofing paint or temporarily pin soundproofing blankets to your walls to block unwanted sound. Whatever options you go with, your technician will help you set everything up to soundproof your walls.
Window soundproofing
A lot of sound-waves can travel through windows, so window soundproofing services can make a huge difference when minimising noise in your home. Your technician will seal cracks in your windows using a sealant. They may also install soundproof curtains or blinds to help dull or block out further noise.
Floor and ceiling soundproofing
If your neighbours above or below you have a bit of a noise problem, it can be well worth trying a few different ways to block this out. The most common method for soundproofing ceilings and floors is to install a resilient channel, which is a thin metal structure that helps block sound-waves from travelling between sheets of drywall. They’ll remove your wall sheeting to install the resilient channel before replacing it and repairing the joints. Your technician may also recommend adding carpet or rugs to your floor to further absorb sounds.
Car soundproofing
Car soundproofing can help dull the noise of the road or engine in your car - especially in older cars. This usually involves laying sound deadening foam mats under your floor mats. But they may also recommend insulating your car doors and boot for added noise reduction. This will involve unscrewing the inside panels and installing insulation in your car doors before replacing the panels.

We live in a semi-detached house and we have a party wall which seems to be very thin. We're able to hear our neighbours talking on the phone which seems to be an airborne issue. We'd like assistance with the easiest and cheapest way to block the noise from the party wall we receive the most noise from. It's only the small gap between the party wall that would need work to block out the sound. - Due date: Flexible
Soundproofing of metal French doors

Dalston, Greater London, E8

Metal French doors to bedroom allow too much noise in. The doors are relatively new (6yrs old) and are fitted with weatherstripping but I don't believe it to be as effective as it could be. Due to the multi-point locking system there is possibly a degree of complexity to upgrading it. - Due date: Flexible

Bedroom Window used to a lot more soundproof. Now even though it is closed the sound coming from outside feels like the window doesn't sit tight. The window closes normally with the handle at the bottom, but it no longer gives it that last push just at the end of the handle turn. Does that make sense? I believe it needs adjusting so the window closes tighter. - Due date: Flexible

Tip Top. My window needed adjustment and Mark did it very quickly and competently.

Build 2x stud walls & install soundproofing

Brownswood Park, Greater London, N4
7th Jul 2019
Hello, I am creating a soundproof room. Two stud walls need to be created. Approx size of room 2.5m x 1.6m x 2.4m high. A Sound proof door with frame has already been ordered along with soundproofing for internal brick walls, ceiling and floor. Materials needed to be purchased are, everything for stud walls a high quality acoustic plasterboard and high quality stud wall acoustic insulation. You would need to purchase these materials. The system for the internal walls and cieling is dboard system with the rails. And the floor is easy with a hush 28 flooring. All materials should have arrived by early next week, and I would hope work would commence at no later than next weekend. A small amount of electrical work will be needed to either re-route or ideally double up a light fitting. Thank you Andreas
