I have a Whirlpool side-by-side fridge (model S21S4D). The fridge section becomes warm every week or two. When this happens, I find the evaporator grill inside the freezer completely covered in ice, preventing the fan from pushing cold air into the fridge compartment. I have already replaced the defrost bimetal with a genuine part, but the issue persists. Checked heater resistance and measures 80 Ohms. After manually removing the ice buildup, both the freezer and fridge work normally again for about one to two weeks before the problem returns.
