I’m looking for an experienced carpenter/joiner to replace the existing double doors to a built-in storage cupboard in our London courtyard. The existing doors are old, basic timber/board construction with black strap hinges and hardware. They’re functional but tired and I’d like to replace them with something much smarter and more attractive, while keeping the character of the courtyard. I’m open to design ideas from someone with good joinery experience — I’d particularly like advice on the best style and materials for an external/semi-external courtyard environment. What I’m looking for * Remove and dispose of the existing doors * Measure the opening accurately * Design and build two new cupboard doors * Supply suitable exterior/semi-exterior timber/materials * Fit new hinges, catches/handles and other hardware * Ideally retain a traditional/laternal courtyard / period-style look, but with a clean, high-quality finish * Prepare and paint/stain the doors, or leave ready for painting if agreed * Ensure the doors are properly aligned and open/close easily * Make good any minor areas around the frame as required Design ideas I’m not fixed on simply reproducing the existing doors. I’d be interested in options such as: * Traditional ledged-and-braced timber doors * Vertical timber/plank doors with a more contemporary finish * Framed/panelled joinery * A simple painted timber design with black period-style hardware The cupboard is in a courtyard which is partly covered but exposed to outdoor conditions, so the construction needs to be suitable for this environment and resist moisture/weathering. I am currently building a recording studio and we are in the final stages of construction, doing most of the internal joinery, ventilation work and painting. Specifically, this job involves finishing the ventilation system in the studio and erecting custom built fitted furniture (basic carpentry skills required). Job location Is N19 4NF. It will be for 23/09 but could go on longer. Timings are flexible - just come in when you can for 8 hours. We will work through a daily to do list with each person doing their own set of tasks. I need some cabinet doors to be fitted on a bathroom recessed shelf. They need to be flushed to the wall but the doors are thinner than the gap so some trim needs to be added to form a frame (gap is 2.5cm and doors are around 1.8cm. The doors are already cut to measure. I have quite A few jobs to do around the house in addition to this but quote just for this job or a day rate and estimate on how long this would take. Thank you

We need a dog gate on our stairs - I have seen them online, simple wooden gates that are permanent. One side is a wall, the other side is a bannister, so I'm not sure that anything off the shelf will work.

Hello I need a handyman to replace the hinges on a kitchen cabinet door. It is one door and two hinges. The current hinges are broken and the door has fallen off. it looks like some parts have fallen off completely, so both door hinges need a full replacement. So i will require the old, broken hinges to be removed and new matching hinges to be installed get the cabinet door properly hung and aligned again. I do not have replacement hinges so the relevant parts will need to be sourced by you.

I need a small ceiling repair completed at an office. There is currently an open access hole in the plasterboard ceiling, as shown in the attached photo. Ceiling opening is approximately 450 mm × 450 mm. I would like: * A metal access hatch/panel supplied and installed over the existing opening. * The hatch must be hinged/openable and closable, with a simple secure latch. * Ideally a neat, flush-fitting white metal access panel suitable for a commercial office ceiling. * Any minor making-good around the opening required for the hatch installation. * The existing water staining/discolouration around the opening and surrounding ceiling to be prepared and repainted. * Stained areas should ideally be treated with a stain-blocking primer first so the marks do not come back through the new paint. * Ceiling paint to be matched as closely as reasonably possible to the existing white finish. * All materials, labour and clean-up included. The source of the previous water staining is being dealt with separately - this task is for the access hatch installation and cosmetic ceiling repair/painting only. To repair damaged radiator pipe which was damaged by movers and because it was damaged and bent my movers to be straightened. This may require correct carpentry also - I have the same pieces of wooden flooring available if needed to be cut etc. the starting price has only been placed to get the bids for the job rolling.
