Hi, I have an external opening that is approximately 2300 mm high by 1230 mm wide. There is currently an external grille door installed, and I’d like to remove it and replace it with a solid external door. I’m happy to go with standard door sizes and use fixed panelling/sidelight to fill the remaining gap, as long as the result is secure and weather-sealed. I need a set of french doors installed, I have the door frame and there is a transom window above the doors but it is included within a frame. I have the handles and new hinges as the doors have been painted. The opening is 1330mm wide and 2240 high, The door and transom windows are 2230high and 1300 wide. doors need to be placed into position secured and then surrounded by a trim.

If you want something more secure for an entry door, Lockwood’s deadlatch style also has passage/safety/secure modes, but for a basic separate deadlock, “single cylinder deadbolt/deadlock” is the plain term.  Best simple wording to use with a locksmith or Bunnings would be: “Three bedroom doors with keypad lever locks that have passage mode, and one standard single cylinder deadlock.” If you want the easiest setup: • bedrooms: keypad lever lock with passage mode • main extra door: standard deadlock/deadbolt Good quality brands in Australia are Lockwood, Schlage, and Yale. Current Australian retail listings show Lockwood, Yale and Gainsborough widely stocked, and Lockwood/Schlage product pages specifically mention passage mode on relevant models.
