Bonair Gas Heater issue. Just started showing error 5. Have tried power cycle and confirm cable connections. Manual says below: On Bonair gas heaters, Error 5 is an ignition / flame-failure fault. It means the control board tried to light the burners but did not detect a stable flame. From your photos I can see: The ignition module and transformer Flame sensor probe on the burner rail Control board and wiring loom The most common causes are: Dirty or faulty flame sensor The flame sensor rod gets coated with oxidation and stops “seeing” the flame. This is the #1 cause. Fix: Power off and isolate gas Remove the flame sensor Clean it gently with fine sandpaper or steel wool Reinstall and retry No gas ignition (gas valve not opening) Could be: Faulty gas valve No gas supply Wiring fault to valve You normally hear: Fan start Click of ignition Then flame should appear If no flame at all → gas side issue. Ignition not sparking Faulty igniter Broken ceramic igniter Loose HV lead You should see or hear sparking when it tries to light. Poor earth/ground Bonair heaters are extremely sensitive to grounding. Loose earth = flame not detected = Error 5.
