We recently removed stone cladding from a chimney breast and discovered an original fireplace behind it (see photos). We would like to restore the fireplace opening as an attractive feature and make good the exposed brickwork and surrounding area. Potential scope includes: * Inspecting the exposed fireplace and chimney breast * Assessing whether any of the exposed timber framing is structural/load-bearing * Advising whether any timber can be safely removed or must remain in place * Minor brickwork repairs and repointing where required * Cleaning and improving the appearance of the exposed brickwork * Making good the fireplace opening and surrounding chimney breast * Recommending the best cosmetic finish Important: Some vertical timber members continue into the ceiling, and we are concerned they may be structural. Before any work is undertaken, we need an experienced professional to assess whether these timbers are load-bearing and advise on what can safely be removed or altered. We are not currently looking to reinstate the fireplace as a working fireplace. The objective is a safe and attractive cosmetic restoration. Hi - we'd like this limestone fireplace surround put together and fixed to the wall. The photos show the brickwork it needs to be fastened to, the disassembled pieces and what it looks like when out back together.
