I have an old cottage in Fremantle and I have had a new fireplace (traditional) installed, but the wall now needs a bit of repair as the new fireplace is smaller than the one that I removed.

Details: • Fireplace is set into a brick feature wall. • Shelves and hearth extension need to be sturdy, level, and finished neatly to match the current style. • I’d like the shelves painted, so open to material suggestions (e.g. MDF) depending on what works best for a painted finish. Please include examples of similar work you’ve done and provide a rough estimate/quote.

Remove bricked in fireplace (gas heater will have already been disconnected and removed) The brick surround has built out over the original wall, I think you’ll need a masonry chisel and hammer or an angle grinder to remove brick by brick, but unsure!

I’ve got a little Jarrahdale Swagman wood heater/fireplace in my home in Redcliffe and I’ve noticed some rust forming at the top of the flue where it meets the ceiling. In the recent rain it’s started to drip down the flue. There’s also minor cracking in the ceiling nearby around the top. Seeking a quote to: - Inspect the flue pipe and identify the source of the moisture - Look at the flashing to see if water’s getting in - potential inspection of roof space if required - Advise on repairs or maintenance might be needed It’s a single-storey place, and the roof is relatively easy to access.
