MacBook Air M2 (A2681) screen replacement

Hi, I have my MacBook Pro ( M1, 8-core, 16GB, 1TB) that won’t power on. There is no external liquid or physical damage, and the enclosure is in good condition. I was doing the latest update, it was around 50% it shut down and never powered back up. There was nothing wrong with it perfectly running, spoke to Apple and they said it’s possible that the download file was corrupted. I know quoting will be hard without looking at it, so happy for it to be picked up or I can drop it off. Need someone that knows Apple very well, and that can give me a good and honest quote.

Looking for someone experienced with MacBook hardware repairs or micro-soldering who might be able to repair this without replacing the entire display assembly. Laptop: • MacBook Pro 15" • Model A1707 • 2016/2017 • Otherwise fully working and in good condition Issue: When opening the lid the screen stays black because the laptop doesn’t recognise that the display has been opened. Still comes on at 20/30 degree angle. This appears to be the well-known Flexgate / display flex cable issue on these models. From what I understand the backlight / display flex cable in the display assembly is too short and fatigues over time, which causes the connection to fail when the lid moves. The display itself still works fine, but the connection seems faulty due to the flex cable when the lid moves. I’ve been quoted $1100+ for a full display replacement, which seems to be the standard shop solution. However I’ve seen examples where the flex cable is repaired individually, extended or replaced instead of replacing the entire display. I’m aware this might require micro-soldering or a creative fix, and I understand there’s no guarantee but at this point I’d rather try that than spend $1100 on a nearly 10-year-old MacBook. That said, I’d also be open to a full display replacement if someone can source a cheaper part. I’ve seen replacement displays on eBay for much less, so if someone can install one for a reasonable cost that could also work. I’m quite attached to my trusty old MacBook and would love to keep it going if possible.
