Hi there repair people and handyman around around the area! Got myself an old (very old) Jayco pop-up camper and wanted to do my own restoration mission on it after watching too many YouTube videos haha!! It is a 1981 Jayco Songbird - which I need assistance with repairing, replacing or tweaking the 3 stage lift arms and / or the push rods for the pulley system which lifts the canvas and top. I had previously broken one of the cables in this lifting system by overwinding, but I have since repaired it, however I’m not an expert on these things and the camper seems to be winding up fairly tight on the cables. I’m not really sure what I’ve done wrong? The canvas does wind up and down but the winding motion feels super tight and I don’t want to risk snapping any of the cables again. I’m not sure if I need any of the lift arms / push rods replaced. I understand how these are set up and the winding mechanism, but I’m no expert and I don’t feel that what I have done is correct If there is anybody out there that understands these things please feel free to give me a shout out. Here are some photos of what the 3 stage lift arm and push rods looks like and if you need any more info please let me know. Also, I’m going to make an offer on here but I don’t really understand what these kind of things are worth so definitely feel free to put your own offers in as I’m pretty keen to get some help! :)
