Why hire a roof ventilation expert through Airtasker?

When your roof has no ventilation, or the ventilation needs repairs, you can hire an expert on Airtasker. Warm or frigid weather can lead to excess moisture forming in your attic, causing wood rot or mould growth. Wood rot causes severe structural damage to your roof, ceiling or attic and leads to expensive repairs while mould can cause allergies that can be potentially life-threatening.

Avoid these problems by making a post on our platform. Mention all the essential details like your location, the type of roof ventilation you have or want to be installed, your budget and when you want the work done. You’ll get free quotes within minutes (or even seconds!) from skilled experts near you.

Browse reviews and ratings on Taskers to hire the most suitable one - once you’ve agreed on the rate, they do the job you contract them for then you release payment afterwards. Get your roof ventilation installed, fixed or maintained and hire an expert with that pink button now!

Top Roof Ventilation related questions

Whirlybird installation can lower temperatures by 20-30°C in roof spaces at the height of summer. Every home is different though, and the cooling you'll experience depends on the building's design, location and other factors.

The number of whirlybirds you need depends on the size of your house and the size of vent you choose. A general guide is to install one standard 300mm vent per 100 square metres of your home. Larger and more powerful whirlybird vents over 700mm are available for commercial and industrial buildings.

Yes. While wind helps a whirlybird to function effectively, the vent will still force hot air out of your roof space if it's warmer than the air outside. Solar vents don't require wind to operate.

A solar roof vent installation works similarly to a standard whirlybird vent, but can offer more efficient cooling. A solar panel on the outside of the vent powers the fan that draws in cool air from outside and extracts warm air. Solar whirlybird installation should be carried out on north-facing roofs when possible to catch the most sunlight.

Most companies can install whirlybirds on metal and tiled roofs, but you should check with your supplier if your roof is suitable. The type of roof you have may affect the installation cost.

What do whirlybird installers do?

Whirlybird installation is usually carried out by roofers as one of many roofing services they offer. Installing a whirlybird for the first time costs more than replacing an old whirlybird, as the roof will need to be inspected and eave vents may also need to be installed.

Whirlybird installation is available for residential and commercial buildings and all types of roofs, although some companies may only offer installation for tile roofs. Make sure you stipulate what type of roof you have in your ad.

Roof inspection

An inspection is required to determine how many roof vents and whirlybirds you need, what size they should be and where they should be located for the most effective ventilation. This may be charged as an additional service or inclusive in the installation cost. An inspection can also catch any problems where roof repair may be needed.

Whirlybird installation

Whirlybird ventilators are installed where they will have the greatest benefit for cooling your home and removing moisture from your roof space. Available in a range of sizes and colours to match different roofs, whirlybirds should be covered by warranty, usually for around 15 years. Whirlybirds are generally maintenance-free, but most installers offer repairs if something goes wrong.

Eave vents installation

If you don't already have eave vents in your roof, these will help your whirlybird to be more efficient at drawing in cool air and preventing condensation. These vents are installed under the eaves of roofs to let air flow in and out, without letting in birds or pests. Like whirlybirds, they come in different sizes and colours to match different roofs.

Solar whirlybird installation

More expensive than a wind-powered whirlybird, solar roof vent installation can offer faster cooling on hot summer days. These ventilators are powered by solar panels and may be recommended if you need more ventilation than whirlybirds alone can provide. Solar whirlybird installation is similar to a standard whirlybird, but more complex as solar panel installation is required.
