Scope of Work: Box in the kitchen extractor fan duct with insulation and a possible access panel. Materials to Be Provided by You: • Insulation: Acoustic mineral wool (Rockwool RW3 or RWA45), 25–50mm thickness. All seams to be fully sealed with foil tape. • Boxing Material: Fire-rated plasterboard (12.5mm pink Fireline plasterboard). Please do not use plywood or MDF. • Frame: 50mm metal stud frame preferred. • Protection: Protective covering for the hob, worktops, and kitchen cabinets during the works. • Finishing: Mist coat or plasterboard primer, and paint to match the existing ceiling/walls. We are considering including an access panel to allow future access to the duct and would welcome your view on whether this is advisable. If you believe there are alternative materials that would be better or more cost-effective, or if any additional materials would be required, please let me know. I need some loft insulation installing in the eaves above one (3.6 x 3.6m) room. I’ve done all the rest but it’s quite small to get through to the other side around the chimney and low roof pitch so needs someone SLIM and doesn’t worry about claustrophobia or spiders :-) I’ve already cut the loft insulation and it’s up in the loft ready to go in place. I can pass the insulation through to the loft space for whomever does the work. An equivalent room with easy access took me about an hour to do.

I have recently moved into a house with a loft but it’s crammed full of excess loft insulation, so ideally I’d like this bagged up and removed from the loft, then I’d like the loft cleaned up a bit, as there is 100 years worth of cobwebs built up! I need to insulate my loft, which currently has very little insulation. I’m looking to install the recommended minimum thickness of 270 mm across roughly 69 sqm. Based on what I’ve seen at B&Q, the materials alone would cost around £400. Part of the loft is already boarded, as shown in the photos/video. I’m happy to pay £200 for the labour if I supply the insulation myself. Alternatively, I’m open to someone handling the whole job—including supplying the insulation—as long as the total stays within a £600 budget for 270 mm thickness. Please bear in mind that around a third of the loft is boarded, so that section will also need to be insulated. The boards will have to be lifted and then put back once the work is done. The price would also need to include the removal of the old insulation.
