I need a carpenter for prep work on my timber entry door and door frame so a new surface-mounted rim lock (Aqara U500, supplied, with template and instructions) can be fitted properly. The lock itself clips on easily; the real job here is the timber work: 1. FRAME REPAIR (main task): The old Lockwood rim lock’s keeper was mortised into the jamb, leaving a recessed cavity with old packing material (photos attached). This cavity needs to be chiselled square and patched with solid timber glued in and finished flush with the jamb, not just filled because the new lock’s keeper is surface mounted and its screws must bite into solid wood. This is an entry door, so the strike anchoring needs to be genuinely secure (long screws into the framing behind the jamb welcome). 2. DOOR HOLE: Enlarge the existing through-hole (currently ~32mm) to 50mm and drill two 12mm holes per the supplied template. The new lock needs a 40–45mm backset, so the hole position may need adjusting, if the new bore overlaps the old hole, plug and re-drill cleanly. 3. FIT & ALIGN: Mount the lock body and keeper, and make sure the door closes and locks smoothly. Door and frame faces need to be flush for this lock, so minor adjustment/trimming may be needed. No painting required (my painter is doing touch-ups separately) and no smart-home setup (I’ll handle pairing). Bring: drill, 50mm hole saw, 12mm bit, chisels, timber for patching, wood glue, screws. We would like to modify the doors of our laundry as the washing machine and dryer we have are bigger and stick out. We have 2 floor to Celina doors that we would need to cut to cover everything else and leave the washing machine and dryer uncovered.

I have a window frame on house that is water damaged and needs repair/replacement and the guttering/roofing above repaired to stop it happening again. Second story bedroom window. No water ingress, water damage is on outside. There is no guttering above but needs some kind of solution to stop overflow of water from roof at this point to stop the run onto the wall and window. Struggling to find a builder willing to do this job in isolation. Any solo carpenters/handymen out there that can handle a job like this? Our outdoor balustrade has had some rotting that has occurred in isolated areas - railing needs to be patched and glued / builders bog in a few spots. Painting not required.
