I've got a Daiken FTXM71QVMA Split System Air Conditioner. Last week I woke to the safety switch being tripped. When I isolated the cause it was the power switch to the Air Con Unit. I noticed some of plastic shielding around the cables outside had broken off so wrapped them all in electrical tape and that stopped the short. Today I turned the Air Con unit on, the indoor (head) unit responds to the remote control, changes modes etc and the fan starts however the outdoor unit (compressor) doesn't start. I came home to find the bathroom light on and the wall switch unresponsive — I couldn’t turn the light off. I left it overnight, and by the next morning, all the lights in the unit had gone out.
