We have an external hard drive that we are unable to access.

5TB SP external hard drive data recovery. No noise/ sound. Two identical hard drives stopped working at the same time, so I'm not sure what has happened.

Some details: External HDD, WD My Passport Ultra 1 TB The drive is recognized when plugged in, although message pops up that it has issues. Windows explorer can display folders, however, it is extremely slow to navigate them. Copying files from the drive is even slower - a 250mb file took over an hour. So maybe a fix to the read/write head or any other hardware component could enable me to transfer the files quickly? There are no clicking sounds as such, just an occasional beep when the drive seems stuck for a long time. The drive has data of almost 700GB more or less. Majority of it is Movies and TV shows that I don't need, and is inside labelled folders. Important is it has my laptop backups going all the way back. There will be duplicate files, but I haven't yet sorted them out so I need them all transferred including pictures, videos, music and documents. It's there to see, just way too slow to copy it over. I don't have paid version of any recovery software, though a scan through disk drill showed there are a number of corrupted files as well which would be nice to be recovered. Data recovery specialist shops are charging way too much as a minimum cost and I can in no way pay that much. Hoping to get a decent/manageable quote here on air tasker. Yesterday the laptop just went black and won't start. I tried to boot in safe mode but that doesn't work. Apple was unable to perform a revive. But there is feedback in the touchpad which apparently is a good sign.
