Use dust extraction and protect surfaces. Close and seal any cavity around the hole. Cut extenders to suit, bond/seal the joints (not just push-fit) and fit the tunnel. Before final sealing, dry-fit so I can test the flap reads my cat’s chip. Fix the flap level inside and seal all joints and the outside edge so it’s watertight and draught-free. Make good: replaster inside ready to decorate, neatly repoint/make good brickwork outside. Clear away all debris and dust.
