The ignition for our indesit gas cooker has stopped working. It no longer clicks when the button is pressed.

Just bought a flat and moved in... cooker hood wasnt working and upon closer inspection the power cords were all taped up (see pics). No idea what these are or why they had been taped up. Don't know if something can be done to get the current hood plugged in and working or whether a new one is required. Can anyone take a look?

We are looking for an electrician to help us with the electrics in the garden office we are planning to build over the next month. We hired someone to build it but need help sorting the electrics which would include the need for the appropriate certificates. We are thinking of one ceiling light and 4-6 plugs depending on cost/advice. The garden office is 3.11m length x 2.29m width x 2.28m height.
