We have a wooden fireplace surround that we would like removing (the black part) and would like to replace it with a marble one instead. I have included photos of the original surround (black) and the new marble one.

There's a connection in each lamp that seems to be dodgy - sometimes they work, sometimes not.

I have old brown wooden venetian blinds in almost all my windows but the strings have snapped on several. It seems a shame to replace if they can be fixed.
