Sand, prep & varnish 2 flights of timber stairs We have two flights of timber stairs in our house that need to be restored and finished. The stairs currently have carpet removed, but there are lots of old carpet staples/tacks, small carpet/fabric remnants and adhesive/residue that need to be carefully removed before sanding. Scope of work: * Remove all remaining carpet staples/tacks and carpet/fabric remnants * Remove any remaining adhesive/residue where possible * Prepare the timber stairs ready for finishing * Sand all timber stair treads and risers as required to achieve a smooth, consistent finish * Sand/detail around the edges and corners where necessary * Fill/repair minor holes or imperfections where appropriate * Thoroughly vacuum and clean up dust * Apply a durable clear timber floor/stair varnish/polyurethane suitable for high-traffic stairs * Apply the appropriate number of coats, with light sanding between coats if required * Leave the stairs with a smooth, hard-wearing natural timber finish There are two flights of stairs, including a small landing/turning section. Please see photos for the current condition. We are looking for someone who has experience restoring/sanding and finishing timber stairs/floors, rather than general painting. Tasks: Carefully pull up a section of carpet to check if a blood stain has soaked through to the underlay. Inspect the underlay/subfloor. I'm looking for quotes to sand and re coat a jarrah floor . The area is a L shaped 2.3mx 3.8 m - 6.4 x 2m so around 21 SQM . This area joins the lounge room which also has Jarrah floors - but they are in good condition . Is it possible to have both floors the same color or will the newly sanded floor look significantly lighter?
