The 200 mm flexible exhaust duct on my Schweigen rangehood has come apart inside the ceiling, so the hood has almost no suction. The duct from the hood runs up through the cupboard above it and into the ceiling through a small hole (about 25×20 cm). The other section, which goes outside, is sitting loose and open in the ceiling cavity just above that hole. The two ends are only about 20–30 cm apart. • Reconnect the two duct sections with a 200 mm joiner, clamps and aluminium foil tape so the join is airtight • Support the duct so the join can't pull apart again • Stretch out the lower duct, which is currently bunched up • Neatly cut the existing hole to about 30×30 cm for access (the 200 mm duct is too tight to work through the current hole), then cover it with an access panel or a screwed-on MDF cover. It's inside a cupboard, so no plastering or painting is needed. • Test the hood afterwards to confirm it's pulling air properly
