I need a skilled carpenter to repair a damaged timber door frame and hang a new solid oak fire door. The door is heavy (42kg), so I am looking for someone with the appropriate tools and experience. Scope of Work: 1. Remove and dispose of old door 2. Structural Frame Repair: The current timber jamb is badly splintered at the strike points as a result of a locksmith needing to use force to break in (see photos). Needs a professional repair so the frame is structurally sound again. 3. Door Hanging: Hang a new Victorian 4-Panel Oak FD30 Fire Door (2032mm x 813mm x 44mm). Trim as needed - the floor is uneven and will need some trimming particularly on the height of the door either side. The door has 20mm solid oak lippings to accommodate this. 4. Hardware Installation: - Install 3x Grade 13 hinges - Consolidate Locks: Remove three existing locks from the old setup. Re-install only ONE insurance-approved ERA BS3621 5-Lever Sashlock and its matching strike plate (pictured) into the repaired frame. - Install new lever handles (57mm centers). 5. Finishing: Ensure the 44mm door sits flush in the 46mm frame rebate. Patch/fill the old lock holes in the frame so it is ready for sanding/painting. We have a Dunelm bathroom roller blind which needs to go up - it needs to be trimmed to size and the pole sawed too. (Website reviews say this is easy). But requires careful trimming/ measuring.
