Looking for a simple patch repair on a section of old galvanised steel gutter. There’s a large hole/rusted-out section in the green painted galvanised gutter along the side of the house (see photos). I only want a patch job — not a full gutter replacement if possible. The house may be demolished in the near future, so please keep it to a basic, cost-effective repair only. Australian Leak Detection has already carried out a professional water-ingress investigation and identified the source of the leak. Their report found a significant number of damaged and/or unsealed sections of roof flashing around the garage roof/upper-level roof area. A controlled spray test failed and confirmed that water is entering through defective flashing areas via capillary action and causing water ingress to the garage ceiling below. The external garage wall was separately spray-tested and passed, so the identified problem is the roof/flashing area. Required works: - Review the supplied Australian Leak Detection report and photographs. - Inspect the identified roof flashing areas. - Identify all damaged, separated or inadequately sealed flashing/joints. - Remove deteriorated or failed existing sealant where required. - Properly prepare the affected surfaces. - Repair and professionally reseal the flashing/junctions using appropriate roofing-grade materials. - If sections of flashing are damaged beyond resealing, advise and repair/replace/fabricate the required flashing. - Check relevant flashing laps, fixings and junctions while carrying out the repair. - Conduct a controlled hose/water test after completion to confirm the repaired area is watertight. - Clean up and remove all waste. This is not a request simply to apply silicone over the existing problem. I am looking for someone experienced in roof flashing and water-ingress repairs who can rectify the underlying defect properly. The leak investigation has already been completed, and a detailed 13-page report with photographs showing the affected areas is available and will be supplied.
