What do toilet repair services include?

Toilet repair services include everything necessary to ensure your toilet flushes as normal and doesn’t leak. Repairs may include checking for toilet cracks, looking for defective components in the flushing system, then applying the right fixes. Your hired toilet plumber can also test the mechanism to ensure the repairs worked. Some toilet plumbers may also perform specific services such as flush master toilet repairs upon request.

Troubleshooting

Your hired tradesman starts by inspecting the toilet to find the cause of the problem. They can inspect the cistern or tank and all the components within, such as the flapper, refill tube, float ball, and other parts of the flushing mechanism. They can also check the cistern for cracks or leaks, and check the base, flexible hose, and flush valve gasket for damage.

Repairing the toilet

Once your chosen plumber has identified the problem, they’ll then apply the appropriate fixes. Toilet flush repairs begin by shutting off the water supply and draining the toilet cistern and bowl if necessary, then repair or replace broken wax rings, isolation valves, supply lines, and other components. Fixes can also include unclogging each flush hole of any debris, and removing blockages on the siphon jet if the toilet has them.

Plumbers on Airtasker can also do toilet cistern crack repairs. Your plumber can drain the cistern then seal the crack with epoxy or sealant. They can ensure that the cistern doesn’t refill until the sealant has dried. They may do toilet fill valve repairs or replacements if necessary.

Fixing leaks

Your hired plumber can inspect each seal of the toilet, then tighten or replace it to stop any leaks. If the leaky seal is the one between the tank and the bowl, your hired plumber can drain and remove the cistern or tank then install a new seal. Your plumber also checks the other seals, such as those on the mounting bolts and the ballcock base, and tighten or replace them as needed. As for leaks on the base of the toilet, your plumber can remove the toilet and likewise replace that seal.

Testing the system

After completing the repairs, your tradesman can restore the water supply and test the flush. They can check for leaks, weak flushes, unusual sounds, or other issues. Should your plumber find any issues again, they can do the appropriate fixes. Your tradesman repeats this process until the toilet flushes as normal. Now that the toilet is repaired, how about getting a handyman to fit a new toilet seat fitting?

Toilet maintenance

A toilet fill valve must be changed every five years, so you can book a plumber to inspect this vital component and see if it’s due for a replacement. Your hired plumber can also inspect the toilet’s seals, soil pipes, and other components for wear, and tell you if these will result in future leaks. They can do maintenance on them and tighten or replace the seals.

Toilet repair - gasket seal broken?

$150

Wollstonecraft NSW 2065, Australia

7th Mar 2021

Hi, I am looking for some assistance with repairing my toilet. I have a caroma dual flush system that leaks from the back when flushed. We believe there is a break in a seal or gasket somewhere between the upper deck and the bowl. I have replaced the hose from the wall but that has not solved the issue. We have been told it is likely the pan cone (?). We are happy to provide payment for the replacement part, we just need assistance with the installation. Job post says the 9th March but any day is ok. We are flexible

Quick, efficient and knowledgeable. Thanks Craig!

Plumbing - repair toilet

$76

North Sydney NSW, Australia

27th Nov 2020

There are 2 issues: 1. Toilet tap will only turn with the use of pliers. Perhaps stuck because of mineral deposits as it was not turned for a long time. Therefore, replace tap? 2. The outlet valve is stuck to the press button in the cistern lid so that when you lift the cistern lid, you also lift the outlet value. Need to “unstuck” this outlet valve from the press button and after that, also ensure that the outlet valve washer at the bottom seals nicely at the bottom so that water does not flow into the toilet bowl. Best to see the pics enclosed and job description. You will need to bring your own tools and the parts to do the job. Please let me know what you are going to do. You can quote just for labour and then indicate to me how much the parts are. Thank you for your interest.

Fix toilet that won't flush and is leaking

There are two problems with my garage toilet: 1. a small leak that occurs every time I flush the toilet (see photo, leak is coming out of a black rubber tube) 2. The toilet doesn't flush properly - when it's flushed the water level rises towards the top of the bowl, and eventually recedes but the contents don't flush properly.

Great job, thanks Costa
