Top Security Fencing related questions

First, you'll need to determine the material you want to use. Some fence companies recommend using chain link, vinyl, aluminium, or steel fencing for anti-climb fences. Next, you'll want to determine the height of your fence and if you'd like to add fence toppings like razor wire or spikes. Finally, you'll need to check with your local community if your desired design is permitted in your area.

Mesh panel fencing and palisade fencing with pointed spikes are two rather popular choices for high-security fencing. Just their appearance can deter potential intruders, and they are practically impossible to climb. Want to place additional security measures around your property? You can get outdoor lights or a security system installed by a local specialist. Simply select the “Post a task” button on this page to get started.

This depends on the security fencing specialists near you! If you’d like to put up electric fencing, put this in your task post and wait for local installers to send their offers. Depending on where you live, you may want to look into any rules or building codes regarding electric fences. For other electrical needs, you can contact a local electrician through our platform.

Some common burglar deterrents include thorny plants, barbed wire and razor tape, broken glass, fence spikes, spinning fence toppings, and anti-climb paint. Adding these to the top of your security fencing can instantly make them an anti-climb fence. You can also ask a local security fencing specialist about other methods for preventing intruders from getting into your property. They will be happy to recommend additional ways to protect your home or office.

This will depend on how large the perimeter is and if there are additional features needed for your fencing. Usually, it takes only one to three days to put up a fence. When you hire a Tasker, they will typically give an estimate for the project duration. Want to beef up your security while waiting for a local installer to put up the fence? You can book a nearby CCTV installation specialist through our platform.

Yes, it will. If you want to put up metal security fencing around your coastal property, choosing galvanised stainless steel with UV protection can make your investment last longer. Make sure to use this same material since non-stainless steel can still rust, and galvanising won’t protect the fence from UV damage and moisture. If you need help sourcing galvanised stainless steel or looking for the necessary coating materials, you can ask a local security fencing installer to help you out.

What do security fencing services include?

Booking a security fencing service through Airtasker typically includes the necessary tools for installation, the complete set up of your security fence, and adding fence toppers to ward off potential intruders. Some Taskers may also purchase the materials and contact local authorities on your behalf. But, in general, here’s what is part of a security fencing installation job:

Designing a proper security fence

A good installer makes sure that your plans for security fencing are aligned with its purpose. Primarily, it should be designed to make your property difficult to even enter. Good security fencing design can include chain link weave that cannot be used as handholds or footholds, using hardware that is difficult to unfasten, palisades that won't conceal an intruder, and barrier mesh that can't be cut.

Even the gate should be considered in the design and shouldn't be seen by intruders as a weak point. As much as possible, a residential security fence should also be nice to look at and add to the property's value.

Installing the security fence (buried)

If your property stands on loose terrain or a slope, it's best to go for this method. Your hired Tasker may start out by marking the post hole positions, making sure not to hit any utility lines. Then, they dig holes measuring 35 to 40 cm wide and 25 to 50 cm deep. They fill the bottom with gravel, then insert the post. Next, the installer pours cement into the hole and checks to ensure it's level and plumb. They leave the adhesive to set for 1-2 days before proceeding to the next step.

Once the posts are firmly in the ground, the security fence installer puts up the fencing system - this can be railings and pales for a palisade fence, wire mesh, or chain links. They can check to see that the panels or pales are aligned at all times. Additionally, your Tasker should also make sure that the gap at ground level won't allow any intruders to come crawling through.

Installing the security fence (bolted-down)

For concrete or rugged terrain, a security fence installer uses the bolt-down method. To start, the Tasker marks the post hole positions and drills the holes. The depth of each hole depends on the bolt length.

Next, they install the posts using bolts. After each post is in place, they can check to see that they're level and plumb. Finally, the security fence installer puts up the fencing system between the posts, checking to ensure that each part is level and securely attached. After putting up the actual security fencing, the Tasker can now add deterrents such as broken glass, razor tape, or barbed wire.
