Hi there, I’m looking for someone experienced with decking to help repair and rebuild a small timber deck in my backyard. About the space: The deck is approx. 5.2m x 4.96m, with two small steps and part of it under a pergola. The deck boards need full replacement, and some of the joists underneath especially the ones not under cover are rotted and will need to be replaced as well. What needs doing: • Remove old decking boards • Replace the rotted joists (mainly in the uncovered section) • Add approx. 5–6 extra posts to improve support (current post spacing is 800mm, needs to be closer to 400mm) • Add extra joists as needed for better structure • Install new decking boards • Basic fix/repair of the two steps if needed I’ll provide photos to give a better idea of the space and current condition. I’m just a homeowner looking to get this done properly without blowing the budget, so please send through reasonable quotes including materials and labour, and let me know if you’re available to come have a look. Sand and stain Merbau deck, steps and landscaping merbau edges. They are in good condition. Task is to Sand and remove current coating or use wood paint stripper instead of sanding. Screw down any loose boards with missing deck screws (just few I have noticed), apply wood rejuvenation treatment to remove greying. After that 2 coats of topcoat. I can supply Intergrain for topcoat. Later there can be task for backyard deck restain potentially.
