When the ducted A/C system was installed, it appears the ceiling and ornate cornice were damaged. Since then, the crack has continued to grow and the plaster has started to chip away (see photos). The job will likely involve: * Repairing the crack in the ceiling/plaster. * Repairing the damaged plaster around the air-conditioning vent. * Repairing the crack in the ornate cornice without damaging the decorative detail. * Sanding and leaving the repair ready for paint.
