Hi, I’m urgently looking for a highly experienced electrician, preferably a Level 2, who truly knows what they’re doing – especially when it comes to old heritage houses (this one is over 100 years old) with old wiring setups. This is for my elderly father’s home, and only half the electricity is currently working – all the lights in the house have stopped working. This is extremely unsafe for him, as he’s old and fragile, and I’m very worried about him falling or getting hurt in the dark. A previous electrician had come and done partial upgrades to the switchboard, installed some lights, and made changes, but it was not properly finished. Now I can’t get in contact with him. I’ve dealt with too many unreliable electricians who take the money and don’t fix the actual issue – I can’t afford that again. I understand that the house may need new wiring, but right now I urgently need someone who can get the lights working again safely. I need help to inspect my home’s electrical system. My recent electricity bills have been unusually high despite using new, energy-efficient appliances, and I’d like to identify any potential issues causing the excessive consumption.

Three downlights + one motion sensor + switch with dimmer to be installed in eaves - wiring already installed but connection to main is required. All materials supplied. Hole 🕳️ drilling required for the eaves.

I was drilling holes around a light fixture in our bedroom to install a ceiling fan I didn’t realise there was a junction inside the hole with conduit going 4 ways for power feed to lighting around in the apartment. I drilled through the conduit and shorted the lighting breaker. I disconnected the wire I drilled through it seems like I’ve damaged the breaker. I can’t see any fuses just breakers but this breaker supposedly has overload protection not sure if it needs to be replaced once it’s been shorted.
