What does a wallpaper installation services include?
Your wallpapering professional can help with every stage of the installation, from choosing the right wallpapers for your space to measuring, hanging, and cleaning it all up. Here are the steps they’ll follow:
Step 1: Wallpaper selection
Your installer will first measure how high each wall is, using a measuring tape. They’ll also measure the width of each wall and figure out the total surface area. This is important for purchasing the correct quantity of wallpaper. Choosing the right wallpaper comes down to your preferred features, colours, textures, patterns, and budget. There are also options for pre-pasted, self-adhesive, or dry-back wallpaper. Your wallpaper hanger will help you choose the right wallpaper that suits your needs.
Step 2: Wall preparation
To prepare your walls for wallpaper, your installer will first switch off the mains electricity and remote any wall-plates before taping over the surface (removing these will ensure a better finish). Turn off the electricity and remove wall plates with a screwdriver. If there’s pre-existing wallpaper, they’ll remove it by stripping sections of the paper away. They may use a knife to help peel up the paper and scrape away any adhesive. If the wall has any cracks, they’ll smooth over it with putty and sand smooth once dry. Next, they’ll clean the walls using a soft cloth, sugar soap, and water before drying the surface with an old towel. Finally, they’ll apply a primer to the wall using a roller and paintbrush.
Step 3: Hang the wallpaper
Wallpapering hanging starts by drawing a guide on the wall to determine where to start hanging your paper. Your wallpaper installer will cut the wallpaper, leaving some overhang. They’ll use either built-in adhesive or paste to stick it onto the wall from the ceiling down, in line with the guide, with about 5cm overhang. They’ll press into the wallpaper to ensure it’s firmly adhered before flattening the paper using a wallpaper brush from the middle outwards, to get rid of any wrinkles and bubbles. They’ll repeat this process until the entire room or wall is covered, lining up the pattern to the already installed wallpaper pieces. Then they’ll trim the excess paper at the top and bottom using a sharp blade. Next, they’ll use a seam roller to secure each seam, before sponging away excess glue and allowing the walls to dry.
Step 4: Clean up
Finally, your wallpaper installer cleans up space. They’ll dispose of any old wallpaper, scraps, and debris before vacuuming or sweeping the floor. They’ll wash out any paint brushes and rollers and take all the supplies to the car, leaving you with any leftover wallpaper on the roll in case you need to repair or patch up your wall in the future.

I have a bedroom that needs one wall wallpapered that is 81 inches wide by 100 inches tall. Then I need a dado rail going around the room and a picture rail going around the room. Steve accepted to do a task of painting and wallpapering a bedroom for an agreed amount, He done a very bad job in completing the task and said this is the type of work I am paying for. Although we agreed that he will do a very good job as asked and that if it would take longer we would adjust the pay to complete the job nicely. I need help installing wallpaper on a bedroom wall. The type of wallpaper is an easy to use paste the wall Wallpaper called Happy Mattic from Happy Wall and the measurements are 197 w and 235 h cm. There is nothing complicated on the wall and we can move the bunk bed pictured.
