What do console repair services include?

The game console repair service includes all the tasks necessary to make a non-working or malfunctioning game console work as intended. To repair popular consoles like the PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch, your console repairman can do troubleshooting followed by the needed repairs. After completing the repairs, they can test the system to ensure the console is back to its original working order.

Troubleshooting the problem

Your console repair specialist begins by inspecting the different functions and components of your gaming console. They may also check each game disc for dirt or scratches if reading or loading errors occur. Your specialist inspects the cables, controllers, connection ports for issues. The monitor or TV and the Wi-Fi are checked as appropriate for any video, audio or connectivity problems. Once the problem is found, your console repair specialist works on the necessary fixes.

Checking connections

Your console repairman checks all the connections that lead to and from the gaming console. This includes the HDMI cables, the HDMI ports on both the TV or monitor and the console, the power plugs and the controller ports. Your specialist can also check your internet for connectivity problems and do the appropriate fixes.

Cleaning the internal parts

Defective gaming consoles can trace some of their problems to issues with heat management. The cooling fan usually causes this, along with the heat sink and other internal parts choked with dirt and debris.

Your console repair specialist disconnects the console, shuts off the power and opens your game console’s case. They then clean the fan, heat sink, hard disk if any, and other parts with a non-static brush or blast from a can of compressed air. The case is reassembled once all the cleaning is done.

Rewiring the console and controllers

Some issues on your gaming console or its parts may be due to wires that have snapped or got cut from excessive bending. Your console repair specialist can check the wires on the controllers, HDMI cable or other connecting cables, and the power cable. Should any cut wires be discovered, your specialist can install new wires and splice or solder new connections.

Replacing the non-working components

Any parts that no longer work on your consoles, such as the cooling fan on your PS4 or Xbox or the PS4 hard disk can be replaced if necessary. Note that your specialist may not have the replacement parts ready, so you must purchase these. Some specialists may offer to go to the console repair store to get these parts for you for a small additional fee.

Testing the game console after repair

After your hired repair specialist has applied the fixes, they can test the console. They can check that the game loads up and works, both controllers function and respond as they should, and the video, audio and internet connectivity work as expected. If any issues arise, your repair specialist repeats the diagnostic and repair process until the console works without any problems.

Pest control barrier installed and floor patch up to avoid gaps

£70

Higham Hill, Greater London

13th Mar 2026

We need to make a room pest proof by installing a reinforced rubber barrier on a door. We already own the barrier. The problem is also that the room has a laminate floor, while the corridor doesn't, and that allows for gaps despite the barrier being on. We need to extend the laminate floor (just by 10 cm or so) in order to avoid gaps. The space is quite old, it's a portacabin from the '80, so the priority is to avoid gaps in the floor in order to allow proper cleaning as well as proofing the room from pests, rather than perfect aesthetics. We have one piece of laminate left (about 80/90cm long) that could be used for the patch up job and we already have the barrier to install on the door. The barrier needs to be cut to size and is rubber reinforced with wire.

£50

Leyton, Greater London, E10

10th Mar 2026

Washing machine is not fuctioning. It is 4 years old so it might just be its time! I have ran some tests with the help of ChatGPT - it has narrowed it down to a 'Drive belt' or 'Pressure switch’ issue. Also a strong chance that Chat GPT is wrong. Just need a pro to have a look.

Everything was great apart from turning up late 👍🏻

Make steps more accessible

£100

Leytonstone, Greater London, E11

17th Feb 2026

I broke my leg a few weeks ago and I’ve had surgery so will be on crutches for the next month or so. The steps outside my house are metal grated and slippy in the rain (pic attached) so not suitable for me to move home currently. I need someone to go over and make the stairs more suitable for crutches. I think this can be done with thin plywood and some sort of nonslip grip tape, or potentially heavy rubber matting although I’m open to suggestion. The landlord has asked that we don’t use any permanent fixings, i.e. screwing in et cetera. We can however use cable ties or clamps. The job would involve going to the flat, measuring up, buying materials and installing. I would preferably like it done at some point this week before the end of the weekend. Please reach out with ideas for best approach, quotes and availability.

Excellent communication. Completed the task quickly and well!

Exposed ceiling works + acoustic & fire treatment (upstairs, ~20sqm)

£2,000

Stepney, Greater London, E1

13th Feb 2026

We’re looking for an experienced contractor to carry out exposed ceiling works for the upstairs area of a commercial space (approx. 20sqm). The goal is a clean, rustic / heritage-style exposed ceiling, not a fully industrial spray-black finish. Scope of works includes: • Removal of existing suspended / false ceiling • Exposing original structure (timber beams / joists) • Cleaning and preparation of exposed ceiling • Neat organisation of existing services (no boxing-in) • Fire-retardant treatment suitable for commercial use • Acoustic treatment to reduce noise transfer to downstairs (attenuation, not full soundproofing) • Final spray paint / seal in a neutral or natural finish • Coordination with existing electrical first fix (pendant lighting) Important notes: • This is for a commercial restaurant space • Fire safety compliance is required • Acoustic treatment should reduce noise, not require a full suspended ceiling • Looking for someone with previous exposed ceiling experience Please include: • Examples or photos of similar work • What is included / excluded in your quote • Estimated timeframe
