      Top Furniture Removal related questions

How should I prepare for moving?

If you're going to pack up your house yourself, you should make sure everything is in a box or is suitable for carrying. Make sure boxes aren't too heavy (for example, boxes of books), as these can cause injury or the boxes can break.

Make sure cupboards, chests of drawers and fridges are empty and clean prior to moving.

Do I need to be present for the move?

In most cases, the moving party is on hand during the move. As well as the requirement of property access, it's good to be there so you can answer questions and make sure all the right items are being transported.

Does a removalist provide packing materials?

Most furniture removalists will provide padding and straps to reduce the chance of breakages while in transportation, but you should check this in advance if you need them. Other removalists offer services that extend to moving boxes and even packing up your house, and these often have all the boxes you might need.

Can a removalist take heavy items like pianos?

Furniture removalists are trained in many situations and in most cases will be happy to move large and heavy items such as pianos and pool tables. Be sure to make the Tasker aware of items like this, as they might need to bring special equipment with them.

Should I provide anything for the removalists?

Although you don't need to provide meals or anything like that for removalists, because of the heavy lifting, it is a nice gesture to provide water and snacks to help them stay hydrated and energised.

How much do furniture removalists cost?

Furniture removalist quotes vary from job to job, but on Airtasker the average price is $130. At the cheap end of the scale you may find workers at $80, while the higher end of the range sits at $200.

      What do furniture removalists do?

Furniture removalists take a heavy item, or several heavy items, from one location to another. It’s not the kind of work that everyone is suited for, so hiring helping hands can make a move go more smoothly.

Qualified removalists will take all the fuss out of the move for you. They’ll bring padding and straps to avoid scratching or damaging your furniture and make sure your items get safely from A to B.

Furniture removalists may also be able to help with assembly of furniture at the other end, and with other heavy lifting jobs such as fridge and piano removals.

      House removalists

If you’re moving house, it can pay to have more than just your furniture transported by professionals. House removal experts can do everything from the packing to the unpacking, making sure your whole house is transported quickly and easily in one go. Going for the full option means you can save time, money and stress.

      Flat pack furniture assembly

It’s one thing getting your furniture moved, but having someone set it up for you makes the whole ordeal so much easier. Flat pack furniture assembly doesn’t require any specific training, but it’s more quickly done by someone with experience setting up seats, beds and bookcases from packs.

      Fragile item removal

One of the most worrying aspects of a move is that a treasured item might get broken. Outsourcing your fragile item removal means that your goods will be well looked after. Professionals know the best way to move different objects and have all manner of techniques to make sure nothing gets damaged in transit.

      Office relocation

Moving offices is often a much bigger job than a house move, with multiple desks, computers and printers needing to be moved. Office relocation specialists can take the stress out of the situation for you by moving everything from your old to your new premises and having everything set up for you come Monday morning.

      £40

      Summerstown, Greater London

      20th Nov 2019

I need to transport various pieces of furniture from SW17 to W14 on Sunday 24 November (3pm or later), and return them on 01 December (1pm or later). The pieces of furniture are: - Big wooden chair with legs sticking out (1.5m at least) - 2 square wooden blocks - 2 small black stools - 1 medium height black stool I don't expect the large chair to fit into a normal car so a van is probably best.

      Clear and move furniture

      £40

      Upper Clapton, Greater London

      9th Sep 2019

Getting married 28th September. We need wooden collapsible tables and benches brought from the first floor to the ground floor and neatly put away in a room. This will be at the end of the night (12am) Tables may have rubbish on that will need clearing appropriately - not much though - maybe some paper plates etc that can be put straight in a bin bag. Any decorations will need to be taken down and also put away in the room. General help clearing. Tables and benches will be the main focus. There will be 15 tables and 24 benches which collapse flat. There will be another airtasker assigned to this as well as members of the wedding. The hall must be vacated by a certain time so this time sensitive. Thanks in advance! Please do not offer higher - I have budgeted for the airtasker fees

Harry was extremely helpful on the night - thank you
