We are redecorating our hallway and are looking for a carpenter/joiner to install new skirting boards and simple Shaker-style wall panelling. We would like the panelling to be approximately 1m high and installed over an MDF backing board, rather than fixing the decorative MDF strips directly to the existing walls. This is both to protect the walls and to provide a smooth, consistent surface when painted. The vertical Shaker strips should meet the new skirting board directly, so the skirting itself forms the bottom horizontal section of the panelling. We do not want an additional horizontal MDF strip above the skirting. There are approximately 8.8 linear metres of wall to be panelled, divided across several sections due to doorways. We have attached a reference image showing the style and proportions we're looking for. We will be painting everything ourselves, so we're looking for supply/installation and for the finished MDF to be left ready for preparation and painting. We have private parking available at the building and a large balcony that can be used for cutting timber/MDF if required. The property is also outside the Congestion Charge zone.
