Task Details: Dimensions: Approx. 120 cm wide x 1.8 m high (matching boundary fence line; site check required). Frame & Cladding: Rigid steel frame (adjustable kit or welded box frame) clad in vertical treated pine palings/battens to eliminate sag. Finish: Painted/stained in Colorbond Monument to match fence and wall cladding. House-Side Fixing: Mounts against the vertical clad wall section (past masonry corner). Must anchor into internal wall studs using structural screws or use an independent post to avoid damaging cladding sheets. Fence-Side Fixing: Securely anchored into existing boundary fence post/framing. Ground Clearance (CRITICAL): Must be puppy-proof. Install a low-profile timber plinth across the gravel so the closed gate has <25mm clearance without dragging on stones when opening. I need a welder or metalworker to replace the two hinges on a wrought iron garden gate. This budget is for labour only. I will supply and pay for the hinges and fixings separately. Please do not include hardware costs in your offer. The gate: Single leaf, approximately 2 metres wide Open picket style, estimated 40–80kg Both the gate frame and the gate post are hollow steel square tube Street-facing front gate on a brick pier Existing hinges are old hand-made welded barrel hinges, rusted and worn Photos are attached — please look at them before making an offer. Scope of work: Support the gate, cut off the two existing welded hinges and grind the surfaces flush Weld the gate-side half of each new hinge to the gate frame. Tack weld and check alignment first, then complete the welds using a staggered sequence to avoid distortion Mark out, drill and bolt the post-side half to the hollow post using through-bolts with backing washers or plates, or rivnuts — not self-tapping screws alone, as the top hinge carries a tensile load Check the gate swings level, closes correctly and does not scrape Clean the welds and touch up all bare metal with cold galvanising primer and a matching topcoat Hinges: I will supply weld-on / bolt-on gate hinges rated to at least 150kg. replace hinge of self closing glass door

Front gate is hard to open and needs to be pushed with force to open. The post is too close to the gate and without getting a new gate, the post either needs shaving down or the door needs realignment.

Old iron pedestrian gate at front house in Kew, mounted to a brick pillar. Bottom hinge is missing but the gate still swings on the top hinge. new hinge really needed to match existing one or close to it. Two issues: Gate will not latch shut – latch and/or striker need realignment or replacement. Gate will not swing fully open due to raised ground from tree roots in front of it – need small adjustment/trim at bottom of gate to regain clearance. Looking for someone to restore both reliable closing and full swing with minimal visual change to the existing gate
