Hardware on hand: 256 GB DDR5 ECC RDIMM (4×64), Samsung 990 Pro 4 TB NVMe, Micron 3400 2 TB NVMe, Noctua NH-U14S TR5, Corsair RM1000e (ATX 3.1), Fractal Meshify 3 XL, MSI GT 1030, HDMI display extender. Scope: • Finish physical build: mount cooler (TR5 + paste), install RAM & NVMe (use motherboard heatsinks), PSU, GPU; tidy cabling; mount E-ATX board. • First boot & BIOS: load defaults, confirm 256 GB ECC, update BIOS if needed, set fan curves & UEFI boot order. • OS & drivers: install Windows 11 Pro (licence supplied), chipset/LAN/GPU drivers; basic health checks (temps, SMART). • Network & remote: set static/DHCP-reserved IP, enable Remote Desktop, verify RDP from my laptop; test HDMI display extender. Done when: PC posts cleanly; BIOS shows 256 GB ECC; Windows + drivers installed; RDP works; HDMI extender displays correctly. Hello, I'm looking into getting WiFi via byo modem and then connecting to a plan but I need to know what router to get first. I'm looking for advice only ATM as to which modem I can use , I have an nbn box from previous Internet but not sure what modem I need, nbn available at my address is hfc. I don't want to spend a lot on the router but aiming for a plan of 250 dl and 23 upload as I want to use it for gaming. Dual band? Mesh? I will likely need a router with long range or extender or mesh as it will need to reach outside but not sure on square footage of my home. Pics and advice would be appreciated. Once I know what to buy I can then hire someone to help me install. I'd like it done asap as I need wifi.
