Top Office Cleaning related questions
Why hire a commercial office cleaning contractor?
A professional office cleaning contractor will free up your employees to focus on their main responsibilities so your business can run smoothly. Your cleaner will have the experience, skills, and equipment to keep your offices maintained to a consistently high standard so you have a safer, more productive work environment.
What tasks are covered in an office cleaning service?
Office cleaning usually includes bin changing, vacuuming and mopping floor areas, kitchen cleaning, bathroom cleaning, and surface wiping. Your office cleaning won’t usually include deep cleaning tasks, like shampooing carpets or cleaning out air conditioning filters - you’ll need to book these services separately. Plus, outside cleaning and maintenance is usually covered by a handyman or general maintenance worker, not your office cleaner.
Can I hire an office cleaner to clean my home office?
Yes - if you work from home, the same office cleaning benefits apply. You might ask your house cleaner to stop by more regularly to do a specific clean on your home office so it’s always sparkly clean.
Will my office cleaner bring their own supplies and equipment?
Yes. Unless otherwise specified, your office cleaner will bring their own cleaning sprays, cloths, mop, vacuum cleaner, and bin liners.
How often should you get office cleaning done?
You might need your office cleaned daily, or just once or twice a week. The frequency will depend on the size of your office, the type of work your staff are doing, the number of staff, and what type of tasks you want your cleaner to take care of.
How much does it cost to clean an office?
The cost of office cleaning ranges from around $54-$120 when you hire your office cleaner through Airtasker. But the overall price will depend on the size of your office, your location, how much dirt is built up, and what you need cleaned.

What does an office cleaning service include?
Office cleaning usually happens first thing in the morning or at the end of the workday, to minimise disruption and noise. Depending on your office usage, you’ll likely need a regular office clean anywhere from daily to weekly. Or you might hire an office cleaner for occasional cleanings - like when you move offices after you throw an office party, or when an important client is coming to visit. A standard office cleaning service will usually include the following steps:
Step 1: Remove rubbish
Your office cleaner will remove waste from bins in each office and under each desk. They’ll also remove the rubbish from any kitchen and bathroom bins. They’ll discretely cart all the office rubbish to the main bins located outside, replacing bin liners as they go.
Step 2: Clean floors
Office cleaning will always include vacuuming the floors, focusing on high-traffic areas. Your cleaner will spot-clean any visible stains to prevent setting. Then they’ll mop any hard floor areas using a steam mop or mop and bucket, putting up “wet floor” signs in case any employees are in the office.
Step 3: Clean staff kitchen and bathrooms
Your office cleaner will ensure clean tables, benchtops, and floors in your staff kitchen area. Most staff are expected to wash and dry their own dishes, but your professional cleaner may include this service, or assist with packing and unpacking the dishwasher. In your staff bathrooms, they’ll clean each toilet, wipe down the sinks and benches, and mop the floors. They’ll use “wet floor” signs ensure staff and visitors don’t slip over.
Step 4: Wipe desks, windows, and other surfaces
Finally, they’ll clean any remaining surfaces that get used regularly, focusing on desks, tables, fans, and windows. Your office cleaner will use window cleaning spray and paper towel to remove marks from internal window surfaces, plus any glass partitions and panels. They’ll also disinfect door handles to ensure a hygienic environment and hopefully minimise the spread of sickness in your workplace.
