I have a 4 bay garage that's collected lots of fine particle saw dust from MDF, plywood, hardwoods etc. I've recently had a severe allergic reaction to some of the exotic hardwoods preventing me from using the shop. This is a small alcove studio. My father lives there but has been in the hospital for a few months. The place is dusty and needs a good cleaning. He is a clean guy in general so nothing nasty. Dirt and white dust not observed from ducts, but it was all over the floor and also accumulated of shelving units and objects on shelves-toys and books/magazines. It was a coincidence that I got a call from the company (Cool Air Mechanical through Costco) to schedule the inspections. It was the HVAC technician who diagnosed the issue - an old bag of mortar that I had moved while starting my cleanup of the space. Per the technician, the dust and dirt was being sucked in by the ducted dehumidifier in the basement next to HVAN equipment and the dust/dirt was distributed throughout ductwork. He recommended duct cleaning for main house and ductwork connected to the dehumidifier. In my research about mortar dust/dirt cleanup, I learned that the ductwork should be a final step. First step was to thoroughly clean the basement. I even asked AI how this problem should be handled. The feedback was excellent with step by step guidance of what to do and when.I had questions for Cool Air, but many of my attempts to get an answer were for naught. I also thought some of the estimated costs were inflated-so did AI in one case. Company not responsive to my inquiry. Date of discovery Monday 7/27/2026. I thought maybe I could do the clean-up myself, but after learning the process I realize that this is something I should not attempt. My budget is private; but in order to get through this, I will put $10.00
