Removing the old thermostat
When removing the old thermostat, make sure to turn off your HVAC units, either from the electrical breaker box or by switching off the system. The purpose is to limit potential hazards while accessing the wires and circuits.Â
Your Tasker usually starts by removing the old front plate. Before they disconnect the body, they keep the wires labelled and identified to make it easier to reconnect the new thermostat later on. Then, they unscrew the old mounting plate from the wall.
Need help with disposing of your old thermostat? Unlike regular trash, they shouldn't simply go to your kerbside collection. Instead, you can hire a clearance specialist to collect them and hand them over to a hazardous waste drop-off site.Â
Fitting the new thermostat
Taskers follow the recommended installation steps from the manufacturer. Usually, it starts by connecting the new plate on the wall and then reconnecting the labelled wires in their corresponding terminals. All excess and loosened wires are then pushed back into the wall. The last step is the mounting of the cover plate.
With a properly installed thermostat, it should be easier to maintain an ideal indoor temperature without the need to leave your AC on full blast. But if you want to cut down your energy and electrical consumption, you might also want to consider insulating your room through walls or ceilings.
Configuration and final testing

The thermostat on our mixer Lusso Stone shower ("LUXE BRUSHED GOLD THERMOSTATIC SHOWER WITH HANDHELD SHOWER") is no longer as hot as it was. Hot water comes out of the adjoining sink fine, so not a supply issue to the shower. The temperature was fine, so not sure what has changed. The attached photo is an old photo as the en suite is actually fully decorated. The shower cubical is micro cement.
