What does event photography include?
Your event photographer will arrange all the details of the day with you prior to your session, making sure they have the correct lenses, tripods, and other equipment on hand to suit the location, lighting, and crowd. At the event, they’ll take both posed and candid photos of the guests - as well as photos of the setting, decorations, and food. That way, you’ll have a range of different pictures of the special occasion.
Here’s what you can expect from the most common event photography services:
Wedding photography
Your wedding photographer may be hired for the entire day, or just parts of the wedding, like the ceremony, reception, and bridal party photos. Your photographer will guide you through your professional shots so that the end products include a range of different moments that are candid and capture the happy couple in their element. Once the photos have been edited, your photographer will send you high-resolution digital copies and talk you through your printing options, too.
Graduation and formal photography
You can hire a photographer for graduation or formal photos - either individual or group photos before the event, or photography during the event. Beforehand, they’ll organise everything they need to bring, asking you questions about the location, photo ideas, and venue. If you need a green screen or other backdrops, your photographer will be able to organise this or help you find one to hire. Your photographer will arrive before the event attendees so that shots are captured of them entering the room. During the graduation or formal, both candid shots and posed shots will be taken so you end up with a variety of professional images. These will be edited and sent to you as digital copies, plus print copies if this is part of your package.
Birthday photography
You can hire a professional birthday photographer so that you can relax during the event (and not worry about photos). At least a few days before the event, your photographer will speak to you about the venue to find out whether it’s indoors or outdoors, the time of day you’re throwing the party, and any special photo requests. During the event, they’ll capture key moments and details, like the party set up, birthday boy/girl, decorations, guests, games, gifts, and birthday cake. After the event, they’ll usually need a week or two to edit and finalise your images before sending you a copy.
Corporate event photography
Corporate events that require photography range from conferences and tradeshows to the office Christmas party. Your photographer will ask you the specifics about the event, so they know what to expect and can bring the best equipment for the job. Corporate event photography includes capturing images that showcase your branding, as well as any staff members, products, and services on display. These images will be perfect for your website, company blog, or social media. At the end of the event, your photographer will pack up all their equipment and head back to their studio to edit your images, before emailing a digital copy or posting them to you on a USB.
