Drive my band from Edinburgh to Glasgow
£30
St Leonard's, City of Edinburgh
10th Jan 2023
Wondered whether this is the kind of thing Airtasker extends to. My band is playing in Edinburgh Feb 11th and we need a lift the following day to Glasgow. 5 people with a bag or guitar each so a 6 seater or larger would probably do it. We're a friendly bunch playing the music of Talking Heads in a West African style. We can also give you a couple VIP tickets to the Edinburgh or Glasgow show. The time is relatively flexible. Perhaps leaving around midday. - Due date: Needs to be done on Saturday, 11 February 2023

It’s easy to assume it’ll be a quick hop across the Central Belt — that you can just hire a van, load up, and be finished by lunchtime. Their profiles show real reviews from previous customers, completion rates that prove they show up, and ID verification. You can also check the related services they offer, such as assembly, packing or unpacking, and furniture repairs.

Top Edinburgh to Glasgow Removals related questions
Many families and businesses move between Edinburgh and Glasgow to tap into what central Scotland has to offer. Some are drawn by Glasgow’s job opportunities and lively cultural scene, while others simply want a change of pace or location.
The cost of moving from Edinburgh to Glasgow typically ranges from £1,500 to £5,000 or more, depending on the size of the move, access at both properties, and the services you choose. Fuel costs may vary and are often charged separately. If you need extra time before settling in, inquire if your Tasker offers storage services for some flexibility.
Airtasker data records the highest volume of Edinburgh to Glasgow removals tasks in September, while February sees the least activity. September offers a sweet spot in Scotland’s changing seasons, with mild weather and generally smoother travel conditions. On the other hand, February’s chill and shorter days can slow things down. That said, with good planning and an experienced moving service, a winter move can still go smoothly.
Most Edinburgh to Glasgow removals experts bring standard equipment like hand trolleys, dollies, straps, and moving blankets, but what else they provide depends on your specific move and what you’ve agreed on. When posting your task, be clear about what you’re moving and ask upfront if they supply packing materials, furniture disassembly tools, or protective covers for specialty items.
Include how many rooms you’re moving, whether there are stairs at either property, any oversized or fragile items that need extra care, and your preferred moving dates. Add photos of your furniture so movers can assess the job accurately, and mention parking availability and access restrictions at both your Edinburgh and Glasgowaddresses.
Pack fragile items with bubble wrap and packing papers, use sturdy boxes, and label everything clearly so your Edinburgh to Glasgow removals expert knows what needs extra care. Fill empty spaces in boxes with inflatable air bags, peanut foam, or towels to prevent items from shifting, and disassemble furniture where possible to minimise the risk of damage.
Packing and unpacking services are often available but not always included in the base quote, so it's important to specify what you need when posting your task. Costs vary depending on the volume of items, materials required, and time involved, which is why confirming these details upfront helps you get accurate quotes.
Rubbish and furniture disposal aren't typically part of standard moving services, but many Taskers can handle it if you ask. When posting your task, mention if you need old furniture, boxes, or unwanted items cleared out before or after your move. You can also book rubbish disposal as a separate service on Airtasker if you prefer to coordinate everything at once.

What does Edinburgh to Glasgow removals include?
In recent years, Glasgow has seen its population steadily rising, with official figures showing the city grew by around 1.8 % to an estimated 650,300 people by mid-2024, outpacing the national growth rate for Scotland as a whole, proving the city’s enduring appeal as a place to live and work. Known for landmarks like the stunning Glasgow Cathedral, the city continues to attract newcomers drawn by its cultural life, universities, and riverside attractions.Â
That influx has kept Glasgow moving services consistently strong, as more people look for reliable, stress-free help when changing addresses. Airtasker is the best place to find removals experts who can help with your Edinburgh to Glasgow moving needs.
In total, Airtasker has already recorded 2000+ removals-related tasks across Edinburgh and its surrounding suburbs. And last year alone, there were 30+ active and verified Taskers that have successfully completed removals-related jobs in the area. This strong local presence makes sure that you can quickly connect with an experienced removals expert whenever you need help with your Edinburgh to Glasgow move.
With an average rating of 4.0 stars for removals tasks completed in Edinburgh, these professionals have established a reputation for providing reliable, meticulous, and consistent service. Most Edinburgh to Glasgow removals experts offer a range of different services depending on what you’re moving and how you prefer it handled. But most of the time, their services typically include:
Moving furniture from Edinburgh to Glasgow
Your booked Edinburgh to Glasgow removals expert will handle the physical work of getting your furniture from one city to another. They may use trolleys, dollies, and straps to safely move heavy or awkward pieces and keep everything secure over the long trip. Then, they plan the unload based on where you’re headed in Glasgow. For instance, a ground-floor access in Jordanhill gets packed differently from a third-floor walk-up in Scotstoun or a steep driveway in Shawlands.
Before the move, many Edinburgh to Glasgow removals experts also offer furniture disassembly services if your bed frame or wardrobe won’t fit through the door assembled. And once you arrive in Glasgow, they may even help reassemble everything, as long as this extra task is communicated to them beforehand.Â
Pro tip: You can also book a move-in cleaning for your new place, or a handyman to help with any small repairs after the move.
Moving appliances from Edinburgh to Glasgow
Your Edinburgh to Glasgow removals service may also include moving your appliances, such as fridges, washing machines, and dishwashers. These appliances have coils, compressors, and electrical components that can be damaged if they’re not properly disconnected, secured, and transported, so it’s crucial to leave this task to a pro.Â
Your Edinburgh to Glasgow removals expert can even help position your appliances correctly, be it in your new apartment in Robroyston or a new house in Shettleston. And if you need help with the reconnection or installation of your appliances, it would be more ideal to book electricians for safe wiring or plumbers for water line hookups on Airtasker.Â
Moving fragile items from Edinburgh to Glasgow
Another key service that you may request from your Edinburgh to Glasgow removals expert is moving items that are fragile, valuable, and hard to replace. It could be your grand piano that your kids learned on, a pool table that’s hosted countless games with your friends, or gym equipment you’ve built your routine around. We all know that these pieces can't just be thrown in the back of a truck.
Removals experts who specialise in fragile items use thick moving blankets, custom padding, and secure strapping to protect against jolts and vibration during transport. Whether you’re moving into Shettleston or Provanhall, they handle the heavy lifting and careful placement so your items arrive intact. You can also explore home gym ideas on Airtasker to prepare your space before you move, or book pool table assemblers to get everything set up once you’re settled.
Organising a return load or backload from Edinburgh to Glasgow
A return load or backloading service means you’re filling spare truck space on a route that a removals expert is already driving, which significantly cuts your costs. Since it relies on regular trips, it’s especially common on busy corridors like Edinburgh to Glasgow, as well as in high-demand areas such as Greater Manchester, the West Midlands, and Kent.
Organising a backload works best if you’re planning smaller moves, like relocating to a dorm at the University of Glasgow with just a bedroom’s worth of stuff. Since it’s way cheaper, it’s also best if you’re relocating on a tight budget, or if you don’t need an entire truckload moved at once. Once you’ve locked in timing with your preferred backloader, they’ll collect your items in Edinburgh and drop them off in Glasgow, covering areas such as Jordanhill, Scotstoun, Shawlands, and Robroyston.
If you need guaranteed timing or have a full household to move, a dedicated removal truck is the better choice, but for flexibility and cost savings, a return load or backloading gets the job done.
