What does a computer repair service include?
Computers are complicated devices, so there’s quite a lot that can go wrong with them. The exact process and what you can expect from your computer repair technician will depend on your problem and the fixes they recommend. Here are some common types of computer repair services and inclusions:
Computer repair service - general troubleshooting and support
When you don’t have the time, knowledge, or patience to work out what’s wrong with your device, it makes sense to hire a computer repair service near you. Computer troubleshooting and technical support are usually the first steps to fixing any problems you’re having. Your PC technician near you will ask a few questions over the phone or on your task to assess the complexity of your issue. Then they’ll visit your home or office or provide virtual computer support to confirm the issue and recommend a suitable solution.
Computer repair service - upgrades and setup
A large number of computer problems are caused by outdated software. When your operating system updates, sometimes it can cause compatibility issues if your other programs don’t update at the same time. Fortunately, this is often an easy fix for PC repairs near you.
You can book a computer upgrade support to run a check and make sure your software and drivers are up to date. They can also download and install any software, computer upgrades, or even a new Windows installation if needed. With up-to-date programs and operating systems, everything should be compatible, run smoothly, and minimise your vulnerability to security threats.
Computer repair service - hardware repairs
Eventually, most computers end up with some kind of hardware failure, whether it’s the graphics driver, a dead battery, or even just a few keys coming loose on your laptop. Arrange computer repairs near you to make it easy to drop your computer in, or get a mobile repair technician to your home. A computer hardware specialist will diagnose issues like why your computer isn’t turning on, video display issues, and battery problems. They may run software tests or open up your laptop or computer case to take a look inside. They might also swap spare hardware parts with your existing parts to confirm which parts are causing your problem. Most computer technicians near you will be able to diagnose your problem within a few minutes, but it may take a few days or weeks to repair, depending on the complexity or your hardware repair, and whether or not the parts are available locally.
Computer repair service - antivirus and backup
As part of your PC repair services, your technician may set up antivirus and repair software, especially if they need to restore your files or get rid of malware on your computer. They’ll help backup computer files with cloud software like Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive, or use an external hard drive. And they’ll likely run virus removal software to check for threats and protect your computer against future viruses. Be prepared to purchase extra software or hardware to sort out your antivirus protection and backups. These are important to minimise the risk of future problems and protect your important files, photos, work, and personal details.

I want someone to build my first gaming PC. I play games like Civilization 7, Warzone, Fifa and a lot of story games such as Ghost of Tsushima, RDR, God of War, Last of Us etc. I just need something thats going to give me a decent experience when playing these. I dont have a huge budget I have a humble job and gaming is my outlet. I am also going to need a decent monitor. Please let me know your suggestions/price. I'll need to know the parts you will use and delivery times. I am not sure how payment will work because im sure you would want a deposit before starting this project so someone verified with reviews for similar work. Thank you

Computer diagnostic and repair
$150
Brunswick VIC 3056, Australia

After a random overnight restart, laptop fails to recognise wi-fi adapter even though it shows up in CMD. It just fails to connect and refused to be enabled via any command line or even manual tweaking. WiFi option to toggle does not even show up. I have resorted to a hard factory reset with a new windows 11 install and weirdly appeared during windows 11 install but soon after sleeping the computer for dinner - turning it back on after, WiFi option vanished again and back in same predicament. Curious whether this could be a hardware issue - I just want to avoid buying a new computer at this current time unless the fix will be dear.

PC freezing/unresponsive
$100
Southbank VIC, Australia

CPU: Intel Core i7-12700F Motherboard: ASRock B660M Pro RS/AX GPU: GeForce RTX 3060 Ti RAM: 16GB 3200MHz SSD: 2TB M.2 PSU: SilverStone Decathlon 650W Gold OS: Windows 11 Summary of Issues: Extremely Slow or Unresponsive System Behavior: PC becomes unresponsive shortly after boot. Mouse and keyboard may function briefly, but system slows to a standstill without any specific program running. This occurs even when booted into Safe Mode. Failure to Load Windows Login Screen: After a cold boot, the system sometimes displays only the lock screen background, with no login prompt or PIN field. This happens even after the system has been powered off overnight. Game Crashes with Black Screen and Loud Fans: While gaming, the screen suddenly goes black and the computer's fans (likely GPU) ramp up to maximum speed. No control is possible afterward without a forced shutdown. This issue appears to have started earlier and may be related to the broader system instability. Inconsistent Boot Behavior: System sometimes fails to respond even in Windows Recovery Environment or when trying to access Advanced Startup Options. Occasional boot freezes or black screens persist even when attempting to reinstall drivers in Safe Mode. RAM Troubleshooting Attempt: I have tested each RAM stick individually in the correct slot (A2 as per ASRock guidance). In both cases, the system fails to load the login screen, indicating that the issue is likely not confined to a single RAM stick. CrystalDiskInfo Results: SSD shows Health Status: Good (99%), though I understand this doesn't always rule out controller issues or corruption affecting boot stability. Troubleshooting Already Attempted: Ran CrystalDiskInfo (SSD appears healthy) Updated NVIDIA graphics driver Attempted Safe Mode boot and driver installs Tried removing and reseating RAM modules one at a time Given the above issues, I suspect there may be a fault with one or more of the following components: Motherboard PSU RAM SSD

Need help fixing my PC (stuck in boot)
$150
Brunswick East VIC 3057, Australia
7th Apr 2025
Hey folks. I've somehow cooked my gaming / media PC. Running Windows 11, had a crash and tried booting into offline safe mode and now absolutely nothing works, no recovery options work, resetting PC just has an error and everytime I restart it re-disgnoses issues and says "startup repair couldn't repair your PC" I'm pretty sure it's potentially stuck in an offline state (thanks windows 11) and I've just made it worse lol. My only other thought is maybe a hard reinstall with physical media or USB via BIOS, but that's all out of my wheelhouse. Tldr. I need someone to assist in completely factory resetting my PC, I'm fine with losing everything as well, but if you can figure it out so I don't lose everything - that's cool too ❤️

Absolute legend, fixed my PC from near death. Super kind and helpful. Thanks mate!
Install PCIe Ethernet Card & Rebuild PC Internals
$50
Southbank VIC 3006, Australia
4th Apr 2025
Looking for a skilled PC builder to install a Dell Intel I350-T4 Quad-Port Ethernet PCIe card into my fully built custom PC. Due to the compact layout and components inside, this may require a complete internal rebuild for proper clearance and clean cabling. PC Specs: • Case: Lian Li DAN A3 (mATX, compact wood edition) • Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming B550M-E WiFi • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500 • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 • RAM: 128GB DDR4 3600MHz • Cooler: Thermaltake Liquid Cooler (white braided tubing) • Storage: Kingston SNV2 SSD + Seagate 2TB HDD • PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 650W (80+ Gold) • Fans: 5 installed Thermaltake white RGB fans (3 front, 1 bottom, 1 rear) + 1 extra fan available • OS: Windows 11 Home Work Involved: • Remove GPU, cooler, and other components if needed • Detach and reinstall motherboard to access PCIe slot • Install the Dell Intel I350-T4 PCIe card • Re-cable everything cleanly and reconnect all components • Power on system and verify boot • Install all required drivers for the new Ethernet card • Confirm that the new Ethernet ports work correctly in Windows 11

Extremely disappointing. I hired Tass to re-cable and reposition my PC internals and install a PCIe Ethernet card, with models clearly listed and compatibility confirmed by phone. Yet on arrival, he declared the components incompatible, stating “With second-hand parts, you can’t be sure.” He neither re-cabled nor repositioned as required. I ended up paying for nothing—a total waste of time and money. Unprofessional and not recommended.

Diagnose PC workstation issues and possibly reinstall windows
$100
Abbotsford VIC 3067, Australia
19th Mar 2025
My workstation crashed. I'm looking for help to fix it. I've created a boot disk and tried to just reinstall windows fresh and delete some disks. The windows install is saying that I don't suitable hardware to load windows. I know I do, as I was running it on this PC previously. Looking for someone to troubleshoot, get my multiple drives up and running and get me back on windows.

Great person to work with. Very experienced. Came with his own tools and pre-loaded windows software for a fast fix and install. Got me exactly where I needed to be. Would use again.
Help me with my home Wi-Fi and PC setup
$55

Airtasker Hi yesterday I finished up at work and I have a spare old laptop that I want to reconfigure as my personal one. To access that, I need my work username and ID but I need to be able to void that and go through a different system if you can help me with that. In the meantime , we don’t have Internet at the home but I can use my phone to hotspot for data to use my laptop, I’ve done that problem for quite a long time now. However today this won’t workwork. I wonder if it’s because of the work finishing situation or something else you can help with. Additionally, we have Internet in the home but something is wrong with it and I can’t seem to tap, if you could have a look at the motor and check that it’s plugged in. Pretty easy tasks really and we have off-street parking. I’m now unemployed and I’ve put down a smaller task price but we can amend it as things progress because if it’s really easy that’s all a fair price but if it’s more complicated we can increase it of course . Thanks for any help you can provide.
