Looking for a cleaner to remove household grade disinfectant residue from our apartment floors. I have recently developed a hypersensitivity (similar to an allergy) to a common antibacterial agent which is used in floor cleaners such as pine green. My flatmate accidentally used pine green to mop the floors which has triggered a reaction. (Please note this is not a hazardous chemical to most people, I just have a rare, usual hypersensitivity to a very common chemical.) Due to the nature of these chemicals to stick surfaces, this job will require use of either a hydrogen peroxide cleaner, or a 2 step process using dish soap followed by white vinegar, as the first stage to breakdown the chemicals. After this the floors need to be scrubbed and any residue lifted. To ensure complete removal of the chemical a final rinse with pure water is required. I am happy to provide the cleaning products, cloths, a mop and mop heads myself. Use of new/non-contaminated cleaning tools (such as buckets, mop heads, cloths etc) for the clean and for each step is required to prevent cross contamination. The area to be cleaned is our open plan living kitchen space as per the pictures. This is approx. 45–55 square metres and covers our kitchen, dining, living room, study nook, and hallways as pictured (the bedrooms and bathrooms floors do need to be cleaned). I believe the flooring is floating laminate/hybrid style. For reference my hypersensitivity is to a group of compounds called Quaternary Ammonium Compound (QACs / Quats for short). The most commonly used chemical is called Benzalkonium Chloride (BAK/BAC for short) which is used as an antibacterial agent in everyday household products such as surface and floor cleaners by brands like detol and pine green.
