The new fittings require 35mm back boxes, whereas the existing ones are approximately 15mm deep. The wall recesses will therefore need to be made deeper to accommodate them. The walls are solid brick. The house has already been fully decorated, and I’m keen to avoid any replastering or redecorating, so it’s particularly important that the work is carried out carefully, with minimal disruption or damage to the surrounding walls. The new fittings are screwless, and some of the walls are slightly uneven, so extra care will be needed to ensure the faceplates sit as flush and neatly as possible.
