What can you expect from an earthmover?

A construction or landscaping project can't be without reliable earthmoving contractors to help prepare the site and transport heavy material to and fro. Hire expert Taskers with the right expertise and equipment to make clearing land or shifting soil and rubble a hassle-free experience — no heavy lifting required on your end.

Here’s what to expect when you book earthmoving contractors on Airtasker:

Excavation and site preparation

Breaking ground on a new build or extension? Get skilled earthmoving contractors to handle everything you'll need, from digging out the foundations and basements to levelling the terrain. Proper excavation is crucial to make sure your construction project is a success, whether it's a small residential project or a large commercial site. Having experts on site ensures that your site preparation remains precise and efficient.

Soil and rubble removal

If you've accumulated piles of dirt, clay, or rubble, and they're left to clutter up your site, it's best to get Taskers to remove them for you and clear out the space. Shovelling it all by hand is a slow, back-breaking job — why endure when you can completely skip this? Instead, hire a professional earthmover to deal with construction waste, such as excess soil after a garden makeover or debris from a demolition job. Contractors will use specialised equipment to load, transport, and dispose of materials safely.

Trenching and drainage

Need to dig a trench for underground utilities, drainage pipes, or foundation footings? Avoid future issues like waterlogging or uneven ground by working with earthmoving contractors who can guarantee precision at every stage. They will create trenches to your exact specifications, observing proper grading and depth. From a small-scale job for residential drainage to a deep-cut trench for commercial infrastructure, the right contractor can get it done fuss-free.

Heavy material transport

Manually shifting heavy loads of materials like gravel or topsoil is exhausting and inefficient, especially for larger sites. By working with professional earthmovers, you can expect them to come equipped with the right machinery to handle bulk loads with minimal labour necessary. They can deliver fresh topsoil straight to your address for a garden project, or haul away construction debris.

I need help moving 2 bulk bags of garden aggregate and 1 crate (50 x 20kg) stone chippings from a kerbside delivery at the front of my property into my back garden. [PLEASE SEE IMAGES FOR PROPERTY ACCESS] The materials are: 2 x bulk bags of MOT Type 1 hardcore 1 x bulk bag of Cotswold stone chippings Total weight is likely around 2.4–2.6 tonnes. The bags will be dropped at kerbside/front of property. The material needs to be moved: from kerbside down a few basement steps through my apartment out into the back garden The job will require moving the material carefully using buckets, rubble tubs, wheelbarrow if suitable, and/or strong rubble sacks. Please include: How many people will attend What tools/equipment you will bring How long you expect it to take Whether you have moved bulk bags through a property before

Remove a pile of rubble and earth that is about 4 cubic yards

£250

South Wimbledon, Greater London

6th Oct 2025

I need the pile of earth and rubble removed and disposed of. ( my apologies that I did explain that clearly in my first attempt) I had a trench dug beside my house and agreed for the materials to be left in my garden since I thought it was just earth. It is mostly stones and broken bricks. I guess between 2 and 4 cubic yards. It will need to be shovelled into a wheelbarrow and then wheeled around 30 yards before reaching the road outside my garden where it could be picked up. Further details: I have added photos. The pile is 4.5 m long and 120 cm wide and 30 cm to the top of the ridge. I have added for scale a 150 cm long rake, 60 cm yellow spirit level and 90 cm metallic spirit level. I tried to rake round the edge to make the mound clearer. It is clearest in the view along the length.

Great quality work. A pleasure to deal with

Garden rubble

£200

Roxeth, Greater London

12th Jun 2025

I’m currently digging my garden to level it, but the previous owners have put rubble under the paving slabs. I have to dig up all the rubble and dispose of it. There’s about 3 cubic meters. I either need a someone who can dispose of this, or someone to help me dig and bag it all up.
